Our April & May favourites | Holiday, The Deep, and rock hunting

April & May favourites

Well, it’s been a while again; the last favourites post I wrote was for March which now feels like an age away! Once again, like for the first couple of months of this year, this is going to be a two in one post. I mentioned in a recent post that I haven’t been blogging a lot lately, but I’m slowly trying to get back into the swing of things.

I can’t believe it’s the last term of this school year though and it’ll soon be the summer holidays; it’s gone way too quick! And then, I’ll have both my boys at full time school – scary!

So, what did we enjoy during April & May?

In my March update, our final favourite was the beginning of our holiday. During the rest of the week we had a few days out; we visited Conwy Castle (and got very wet!), Llandudno, and had a lovely review meal in Rhyl. We finished our holiday with a visit to Talacre where we met up with one of my blog besties Rachel from Coffee, Cake, Kids and her three boys; all five boys got on like a house on fire!

Half term

Our holiday was during the first week of Spring half term, so the second week I had to occupy the boys at home when Daddy went back to work. We did some baking, visited the local arts centre to do some crafts, and had a visit to The Deep.

The Deep

One of our favourite places to visit locally is The Deep; once you’ve paid admission, you get a family pass so you can visit for “free” as many times as you want for the next year. There’s always something new we spot every time we visit, and they usually have some sort of craft activity on which the boys enjoy doing. Their favourite part is the tunnel lift on the way out, where they get to see sharks and other fish up close. With my shark phobia though, I always turn the other way!

Okay, so this is one of my favourites, but it was my first ever blogging conference I attended so it has to make the list! I had a busy but brilliant day, finally met some other bloggers I’ve only spoken to online, and learned so many new things that I put into practice straight away.

Rock hunting

Noah & I made a trip to another local village to feed the ducks, and we accidentally stumbled on some rocks that people had painted and hidden. I think this is such a great idea; it gets people out into the fresh air and brings the community together. He ended up finding three different rocks, and rehid them for somebody else to find.

Spring bank holiday

It was a rare occasion for us that Daddy had the second bank holiday of May off work, so we were able to have a family day. The boys love meeting their favourite TV characters, so when I saw that a local farm had a family fun day on with Paw Patrol Chase and Dave the Minion appearing, we decided to make our first trip. We only managed a couple of hours there as it was a (also rare) scorcher of a sunny Bank Holiday!
