As I mentioned in one of my previous blog posts from earlier this month, my Nan died a couple of days after Christmas. It was an absolutely heartbreaking time for the whole family, but she is now out of pain, and happy I hope, happier than she has been in a long time. Of course I was extremely upset and it was, still is, painful, and I still can’t believe she’s gone. But, I said to myself, and to my husband, it’s just the circle of life – she was obviously making room for our little man (and my cousin’s, who is due just a few weeks after us); this has brought me much comfort in believing this.

We are laying her to rest tomorrow, which is going to be an extremely emotional day, so the blog is coming today. I keep singing this to myself, and it reminds me of my Nan, and I think of all the lovely times we had while I was growing up. I’ve never really believed in the angels thing before, but I hope she is going to be looking down over our little man and protecting him, and being his guardian angel for life.

From the day we arrive on the planet

And blinking, step into the sun
There’s more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

Some say eat or be eaten
Some say live and let live
But all I recree is the joinless stampede
You should never take more than you give

In the circle of life
It’s the wheel of fortune
It’s the leap of faith
It’s the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life

Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars

There’s far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

In the Circle of life
It’s the wheel of fortune
It’s the leap of faith
It’s band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle, the circle of life.

It’s the wheel of fortune yeah
It’s the leap of faith
It’s the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding yeah
In the circle, the circle of life.
On the path unwinding Yeah
In the circle, the circle of life.
