I can’t believe it’s that time again where we are looking back on our favourite five for the month. July was a fairly quiet month for us; it was our wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month but other than that, we have just been enjoying being outside in the summer sun (well, when we have had it, anyway!).
I’m not sure how August is going to pan out; most likely last minute school preparation for Jacob as he has his final days at nursery towards the ends of the month. I can’t believe it’s school time for him already, it’s going to be so quiet for 5 days a week! He is very excited though. 🙂
Our wedding anniversary
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month – 8 years! We had no childcare so we decided we would just have a quiet night with some nice food and a movie when the kids had gone to bed. It was a last minute decision with what to have though, and we ended up with this lovely lot and a cheesecake for dessert!
Trips to the park
The boys love going to the park but as we are a 3 mile drive away and I haven’t passed my test yet, we can only go when Daddy is home. So we have been enjoying impromptu trips on the way home from the shops! We discovered this one recently which is a lot bigger than the one we usually go to; it has a rocket slide too!
Splashing in the paddling pool
We had to buy a new paddling pool this year as we seemed to have lost a stopper for the old one when we moved. We managed to grab the same one at the supermarket for £10 though so it wasn’t a great loss. A small price to pay for the boys having fun splashing Daddy and cooling down at the same time!
A trip to the spa
If you have read my blog recently you will know that I am a DryNites ambassador, and I finally got to meet some fellow bloggers and other ambassadors at a lovely event the DryNites team organised for us; something every parent dreams of I’m sure – a sleep retreat at the gorgeous Alexander House! After an eventful train journey and being late to catch the cab with the others, it was just what I (read all of us) needed and we had an absolutely amazing day & night, complete with adult chat, amazing food, a lovely sleep, and a spa treatment. Bliss.
A new cooker
If you are a regular reader of my weigh in updates you may have read that I haven’t been able to use my oven for the last few weeks due to it dying, so it was a few weeks of meals made with the hob, grill, and microwave. Not overly disastrous but I really did miss cooking in my oven. I came home from my spa trip to this beauty from Baumatic, and I love it. It’s so good to be able to bake again! (This is where I insert a cheeky link to these rocky road brownies, the first thing I baked in it!)
