So another month has passed in a blur – where does the time go?! It doesn’t feel like summer as it’s supposed to be. Due to the horrendous weather, we have spent more time indoors than outdoors in the last month. On the few sunny days we have had, though, we have enjoyed ourselves outside doing some things featured in our favourite five for June 🙂 (Though I am a little late as I haven’t had any motivation recently, or I’ve been super tired – both have probably gone hand in hand actually!).

Open Farm Sunday

We never made it to an Open Farm Sunday event last year, as I hadn’t seen it advertised. I saw that a local farm shop was holding one again this year, so we stopped by after hubby came home from work. There was so much to do, with local produce food and drink stalls, farm machinery that the boys got to sit in, face painting, and a fire engine and uniforms to try on, which they were so excited! It was a great afternoon out, all for free, too!

Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Hubby had a week off in the middle of the month, and though I had driving lessons, Jacob was at nursery for two of the days, and we had an appointment for Noah on one of them; we chose the perfect day to visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park as it was one of the sunniest days that week! It was somewhere I had wanted to take the boys for a while, and I’m glad we finally did, as it was a brilliant day out. It was such a long walk around, and we were all shattered at the end of it, but there were so many animals to see, and with some play areas dotted about, it was fun for everyone 🙂

Vita Coco chocolate

We were sent some Vita Coco chocolate flavour coconut water, which is perfect for the summer! (Summer, what summer? I hear you say. I know…). We’ve all been enjoying it, and with me trying to be healthier and eat more naturally, I love that this is purely coconut water, coconut milk, and chocolate, as it’s a more nutritious drink for the kids, too. However, it still feels like a treat as it tastes primarily chocolate with a hint of coconut. It does make a lovely summer drink that also feels naughty but is good for you 🙂

Gardening

Since we moved last September, we have gradually been sorting out the back garden, which was a bit of a mess, and giving it a whole new makeover. There wasn’t much we could do through the winter, but we have been getting stuck in the last couple of months. The boys have their little watering cans and gardening tools and love to help. Eventually, we will have a herb garden and a little vegetable patch, but I have been focusing on the borders for the last couple of weeks. The boys are growing sunflowers, and Jacob helped me choose these plants for potting 🙂

Afternoon tea for Macmillan

I saw Macmillan’s latest fundraising event, Summer Lights, advertised on Facebook a couple of months ago and decided I wanted to join in with this one as I love organising fundraising events, and I hadn’t done one for a while. I decided to go with an afternoon tea theme, and I love how it all turned out. Even the boys put pennies in the pot for cakes, and with online donations from people who couldn’t make it, I managed to raise almost £115, more than doubling my target of £50, so I was over the moon!

Sounds like a busy month in spite of the weather… Same here in Scotland, weather is such a disappointment. It’s great that you managed to find activities indoors and still enjoy it. At home, we are also constantly doing up our garden and buying new plants since we moved in. Your afternoon tea looks yum, and I’m glad you managed to raise more than you expected, well done to you! #OurFaveFive
