Our favourite five - November

I can’t quite believe it’s December already; this year has gone so quick! I started joining in with our favourite five back in May and the months just seem to have flown by. I’m surprised I have managed to join every month; but I think I do so because it’s nice to look back on our month and see that even if I’ve had bad days, there has been good too.

Anyway, I’m a little late with November’s favourites, for a reason you will discover when you read on… The beginning of November was fairly quiet, but towards the end seemed to be filled with preparing for the aforementioned, and for our advent and Christmas countdown!

So what were our favourite five for November?

Being nominated for Miss Slinky

It’s been awards time again in the Slimming World universe, and this time it was for Miss Slinky and Mr Sleek. After being crowned our group Woman of the Year earlier in the year, I wasn’t expecting anything for this one. So I was pleasantly surprised when I received a message from my consultant saying I had been nominated! I had quite a few fellow nominees this time and all were very well deserved. And… I won! It was very overwhelming, but I was also very proud of myself too.

Fireworks

Our small village usually comes together to provide a bonfire and fireworks, but as Bonfire Night was on a Saturday this year, most people headed to the next village as the pub was holding an event. I love fireworks; Jacob always wants to see them but the noise gets a bit much for him sometimes so we didn’t stay until the end. It was a good disply though.

Reaching my target weight

November seemed to be a good month for me and Slimming World. I have been up and down for months and months, and my target seemed miles away. But the last few weeks I’d had some really good losses and I had my super determined head on then. The finish was finally in sight, and I just wanted to get there – no more messing about! I was desperate to reach it before November was out, and I did!

Christmas lights switch on

Ever since Jacob was a baby, we have been to our local town to see the Christmas lights being switched on. They changed it a bit this year and the event was an all day thing rather than just evening. It used to be that there was a bit of entertainment on the stage for a half hour, then the countdown, lights on and then fireworks. This year they had lots of Victorian and steampunk type of entertainment in the town all day, and then the switch on late afternoon. I must admit, it was a bit underwhelming this year as there were no fireworks – it was a bit like it ended before it even began! But, it always marks the beginning of Christmas for us, and the boys had fun on one of the rides.

Choosing a puppy

Yes, this is what has been delaying me in writing this post! At the end of November I went to choose a puppy to bring to its forever home. I could have taken them all, but in the end, this little fella chose me! Meet Barney, the newest addition to our family 🙂
