contents of a first aid kit including scissors, tweezers, cotton buds; 6 Things Every Family Home Should HavePexels – CCO Licence

Whether you’ve just moved into your first home as a family or you’ve been settled down for a while there are a few things that you should probably have in your home to make life as easy for you all as possible

A burglar alarm

Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their own home, which is why every home should be fitted with its own intruder alarm that will help to keep the family safe and provide peace of mind for everyone inside. These days, intruder alarms are very sensitive and that means they are better than ever at keeping unwanted visitors out.

A first aid kit

If you don’t already have a first aid kit in your home, you should go out and buy one right now. Obviously, serious injuries will always require medical attention, but when you have a first aid kit, you can deal with minor cuts and burns at home immediately, which means they are less likely to get worse before you can see a doctor. First aid kits really can save lives.

A fire extinguisher

It’s amazing how many homes in the UK do not have a fire extinguisher. Fire can devastate your home and take lives, so although house fires are thankfully rare it’s a really good idea to have a fire extinguisher in an easily accessible location should the worst happen.

A quiet place

Having a quiet nook where family members can retreat to when they’re feeling stressed, angry or otherwise not themselves is really useful, especially in homes that have one or more neuro-diverse family members. This can be a whole room, the corner of a room that gets less traffic or maybe even a shed or summerhouse. Fill it with a few comfy cushions or beanbags and maybe a few books and let everyone know that it is a safe place to retreat to at any time.

Microfiber cloths

Microfiber cloths are a great addition to any home because they can be used to clean practically anything from burnt-on grease to dirty floors, very effectively, and best of all, they can be washed and reused time and time again, which means you won’t have to waste any vital resource in keeping your home clean and presentable.

Baskets

Having lots of baskets around your home is a great way to ensure that your home stays clean and clutter-free. Family members can simply place their things, whether they be toys shoes, art supplies – you get the idea – into the relevant basket and your house will no longer look like someone has just set a bomb off and you will be able to relax in the clutter-free environment you have always dreamed of having. Seriously, baskets can be completely life-changing if you’re someone who struggles with keeping the family home tidy.

If your home is fully stocked with all of these important things, you will all be happier, healthier, and safer and that is exactly what you want to be, right?
