A Grand Design In Your Little GardenPhoto by Pixabay from Pexel

Have you ever dreamed of having one of those gardens that you see in a magazine? With a stunning lawn and the most beautiful outdoor living space that flows effortlessly into the home? These grand design gardens look like they cost the earth and probably take hours of maintenance every day. However, you don’t need a huge budget and loads of time on your hands to create your own, magazine-ready garden.

One of the first things people notice in your garden is your lawn. Many of us struggle to keep our grass a beautiful shade of green and end up with a patchy affair. It’s hard to maintain a garden, especially if the weather is unpredictable. You can now buy a hybrid lawn. This is a mixture of real and artificial grass which a lot of sports arenas use. If your budget can’t stretch to that, you could consider astroturf. This is an entirely artificial lawn which can be washed down with a hose instead of mowed. Modern advancements mean that fake grass can look as good, if not better than, real grass. You could have a lawn in no time that all of your friends will be envious of.

The garden fence is another area that can let you down. Often people leave their fences or use a stain to give them a little colour. We tend to choose shades of wood; however, one of the best colours to make your flowers and your grass zing is dark grey. A dark grey fence can add serious impact to the overall look of your garden and can create the illusion of more space.

To add flow into your home, you should consider knocking your wall through and replacing it with bifold glass doors. This will allow you to open your home up into the garden and give you a really grand look when your friends come round for dinner or drinks. To save you money, it’s worth speaking to a company like bifolddoctor.com who repair and maintain bifold doors. They may know of a system that is being removed from someone else’s property that could work with yours.

If your new garden area leads directly out of the house, make sure the exterior of your home looks up to scratch too. You might need to repaint, replace some cladding, or go for all new stone wall cladding.

Finally, you need to add wow factor with some decking, lighting and modern furniture. Your decking should match your fence colour, and grey is stunning. You can stain it yourself with some outdoor paint or wood stain, just make sure you use the right equipment and do the prep work or it could end up looking really patchy. Your furniture should be simple, but you should add bold colour through the soft furnishings adding a throw for those evenings that get a little cooler.

Opt for solar lighting. There are some intelligent solutions now, which will give you a dramatic look as the sun goes down. Solar light is excellent as it helps to reduce your energy usage, but you could opt for LED lighting, which will enable you to add a colour changing system for those nights you want to party.
