As a family I thought this year would be perfect to start some new Christmas traditions. Little man wasn’t really old enough to understand what was going on last year so we just kept things pretty much as normal. When I was a child all of the traditions we had obviously made Christmas that bit more exciting!

This year we have made salt dough decorations. I will continue this for a few years with letting them paint and decorate some each year, whether it be for our tree or gifts.

We have been to visit Santa

This year I have also put together a Christmas Eve goodie bag with new pyjamas, a Christmas DVD, reindeer food, a magic key for Santa, some chocolate and a drink. I think it’s nice that they can have something to get excited about before the big day. Though by the time little man had got to his drink and chocolate he wasn’t interested in the rest for a while!

And we have left goodies for Santa and his reindeer!

As a child I always used to watch The Snowman on Christmas morning and it brings back so many magical memories. In the morning we will be watching Olive the Other Reindeer, I love this short animation myself so hopefully little man will love it too!

This year a lot of people have been doing the Elf on a Shelf, it has looked like so much fun and as little man will be even more understanding of the festive season next year, we will definitely be starting that tradition!
