When you think of renovating your home you may worry about the rising costs and never-ending tasks. If you deem your home to be a bit of a fixer-upper then you may have a long list of jobs you want to do. Over time, homes can become tired and worn so you must keep them updated and fresh. There are even some things you can do that will boost the value of your home if you were to ever sell it. However, you may be worried about breaking the bank with these jobs. It doesn’t have to be expensive to renovate your home. Take a look below at some of the best renovation ideas you can do.

Loft Conversion

This is one of the more luxurious renovations you can do within your home. If you dream of owning a bigger home but aren’t currently in the position to move then why not see if you can convert the loft? This is a very popular option as it saves you a huge amount of money. Rather than moving, ask a surveyor to check out your loft space. They will be able to tell you if your home is suitable for conversion or not. It is all about how much space you have to play with and where the supporting beams are within your home. The best news? A loft conversion will add around 20% to the asking price of your home.

Kitchen

When it comes to the kitchen you need it to be functional. The last thing you want is the hob or oven in the wrong place for instance, or maybe they don’t even work at this point. The kitchen is the heart of the home and if you had to choose just one room to renovate, it would probably be the kitchen. You might spend a lot of time in your kitchen, it has been known that even Kate and Wills spend a significant amount of time in theirs. This may be cooking meals for your guests or simply entertaining and having dinner parties. There are many things you can do to inject some life into your kitchen.

If you are looking for a budget-friendly renovation then how about this? If you like your cupboards but feel they are dated then give them a coat of paint. Yes, you read that right, paint your cupboards. Make sure you paint both the inside and the outside as you don’t want to see the old cupboard when you open it to get stuff out. Painting your cupboards and adding new handles will instantly boost the aesthetic of your kitchen and make it look brand new.

If you have the space available then you could insert a centre island in your kitchen. This is not only modern but extremely practical. Be aware of placing the hob or any appliances within it though, when you sell your home it might not be a huge selling point to some people.

Bathroom

The bathroom is usually one of those rooms in the house that doesn’t take long to renovate, but there are just so many different decor elements to pick from when renovating. The hardest thing about the bathroom is trying to fit all of the things you want into a small space without it seeming cluttered, out of place, or just cramped. Of course, if you have a fairly large bathroom space then this won’t apply to you, but getting the most use out of every square inch can be tough if you’re new to renovating.

We suggest starting out by taking a look at a supplier, such as Bath Shack or perhaps going to a store yourself to get a feel for what kind of fixtures and colour schemes there are. Get an idea of the different types of materials available too because you’ll have lots of different choices to make your ideal bathroom come to life.

Getting inspiration from these places is a great way to begin. Next, you can start to dive into the individual details for each element, such as tile designs, fixtures, and even flooring options. Bathrooms are really flexible, so there are just so many things you can mix and match. Try to keep things simple by sticking with an overall theme or idea, and try not to get overwhelmed by combining lots of different styles.

Flooring

The flooring throughout your home is important. If you are bored of your current flooring then change it to something that you love. For instance, you might have carpet in every room of your home. This can seem a bit dated in this day and age, especially if it is red or green. Hardwood flooring is not only beautiful when it’s done correctly, but it is also super easy to maintain. You could opt for something like European oak flooring. This has a lovely finish and will stand the test of time and spills.

Walls

Finally, over time the walls within your home can become grubby and tired. Paint usually has a life expectancy of around five years before it gives up. When it does, you could experience flaking or dullness. It is relatively easy to keep on top of this, all you have to do is keep topping up the paintwork. If you fancy something different, then now is your chance to change it. You might be bored of the current colour on your walls. Think about what colour you would like, but be careful you don’t choose anything too bright or too garish as you will need to change this if you wish to sell your home.

You could opt for a feature wall to give the illusion that your rooms are bigger than they are. A feature wall consists of one wall that is different from the others. For instance, you might have three white walls and one grey one. You don’t just have to use paint for a feature wall, you can also use wallpaper. Wallpaper can work out slightly more expensive than paint, especially if you choose a patterned one that needs to be matched and lined up each time.
