Inside the boys’ Easter basket

Inside the boys Easter basket

Last year was the first year that we were a family of four. N was only a few weeks old, but I made an Easter basket – well, actually a papier mache chicken – for J, so I thought I would carry on the tradition and do another one this year. I have left it rather late, though, so the boys have one between them, as I don’t think N will really be interested – I’m not sure how well that will go in theory, though!

Little man J turns 3 – two day birthday bash!

A week ago today J turned three years old – I’ve finally started to come to terms with the fact that he’s no longer a baby and is growing into a proper little boy. We decided that rather than have a larger party at home like he has the past couple of years, that we would just have a mini pizza party at home on his actual birthday – the Thursday – then have a soft play/pub party with some friends on the Friday. So the lucky little man effectively had a two day birthday bash! We had a fairly …

Watching the solar eclipse

Now I don’t know about you, but I only vaguely remember the last solar eclipse in 1999. I would have been twelve years old and science or solar eclipses weren’t on my mind at that time… I don’t even remember what I was doing at the exact time it happened, most likely at school?! Anyway, I’m sure I’ll remember exactly what I was doing at the time of this one in 2015, as I was showing J the different ways of seeing it safely! I also had a go at explaining it to him, though in simple terms as he’s …

Zip It & Train! | Book review

As an avid reader and now writing my own book review blog, I want to make sure that my boys love reading too. J is at that stage now where he is starting to want to read them himself, and he sometimes reads to his brother, too (when he’s feeling a sharing mood). At the minute though it’s the case that I read them a few times and J memorises it so is able to repeat, which I think is wonderful! We were recently sent two new books from Little Tiger Press which he has taken to; they are his …

Wee wee (he) did it!

I first wrote about J and potty training when he was two years old – so nearly a year ago – and we have been on & off with it ever since. We reviewed Dry Like Me potty training pads back in the summer last year but we didn’t get very far with them as he just wasn’t showing much interest. We haven’t been forceful with it, we have just gone with the flow and let him lead the way but recently we have been encouraging him a little more. A couple of months ago Nanna bought him a Thomas Tank musical potty as …
