Words

Recently little man is learning lots of new words; we’re finding at least one a week, I think! It’s so cute when he says a new word as he doesn’t quite say it properly, but we can still tell what it is. He also says a couple of phrases! I’ve most likely forgotten the order in which he learned all his words but so far we have:  dada mama no (stemming from me constantly telling him off for pulling all the books off the shelf!) ta (thanks) ‘narna (banana) nanna  who zat? (who’s that? – whenever someone comes in the …

What’s in a name?

What is in a name?  Since before we even found out I was pregnant, we always had our girls name chosen – though a friend has since named their baby girl with the same first name so we will have to rethink if we ever have a girl, though I absolutely love it so we may have to keep it as a middle name!  Once we knew little man was a boy, we struggled with deciding on a first name. We just could not agree. If hubby chose one, I didn’t like it; if I chose one, he didn’t like …

Here we go again…

So little man is ill. Again. This is the third time (fourth, if you count his awful MMR reaction) since his birthday. The first one was his ear infection, then he had gastroenteritis, then of course his MMR reaction, and now he has a chest infection & virus. He started with a slight cough on Friday night, then by Saturday his breathing had gotten a bit heavy and wheezy too. His temperature was also 38.5. We gave him Calpol hoping it would stop it before it got any worse, but by Sunday morning it hadn’t improved, and he was sleeping …

MMR reaction

When little man’s appointment came through for his 1 year injections, there was no doubt in my mind that he would be having his MMR one. All children react differently, but he has had a pretty bad reaction, rash wise anyway. Here is just part of it: He also has it like this over his chest, and it’s spread to his neck, face, legs, hands, and feet. Other than this, the only other reaction he’s had is fatigue and tiredness (he’s had his gastroenteritis but that was unrelated, and this reaction overlapped with it).  We took him to the doctors today …

Give my boy a break

Can somebody give my boy a break, please? Pretty much since his birthday, he’s been ill.  First he had a cough & cold. Yep, can deal with that, Calpol usually does the trick.  And then the beginning of last week he was rather grumpy. Some ear pulling was going on too. Then I noticed discharge in his ear. Off to the GP we went. Ear infection. Amoxicillin was given for that. Then Thursday it was his injection day, including his MMR. I admit I thought he was going to scream the place down, but no, he flinched at the first …
