Ideal Home Show at Christmas – 12-15 November 2015, EventCity Manchester

November is here, and in this house it means it is the beginning of the count down for that thing that is happening next month. It begins with a ‘C’. You know, Christmas?… Yes, I’m one of those people that gets excited about it ridiculously early and will probably bore everyone to death with it by the time it rolls around! But it’s good to be prepared, right? This year is the first time we will be hosting Christmas Day in our own home; previous years we have alternated between going to our parents’ houses but this year we don’t …

Recipe – Bejewelled summer fruit terrine (#SlimmingWorld friendly)

I know summer is now over and winter is well & truly on its way, but this recipe could be adjusted to include winter fruits (plus I’ve had this post sat in my drafts for months so I thought I better share it, okay…). Who can resist jelly, whatever the weather? The pomegranate seeds in this one look just like little jewels. My boys even loved it so you could pretend that you’re making it for the children too. Slimming World weigh in #37 – the one with two in one…

Last week I never got around to posting my weigh in update, so I’ll add it on to the bottom of this one like I’ve done previously. So how have I been doing? I’ve been avoiding buying biscuits for everyone else – if they’re not in the house, I can’t eat them, and neither can they, but tough! I also stocked up on fruit again for snacking …

Potty training and growing up with Thomas | Giveaway (CLOSED)

Regular readers of the blog will know that J started potty training early last year and since then we have been up & down like a yo-yo, going totally off track at points too and right back to the beginning with him wearing nappies full time. Though deep down it was frustrating for me, I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t force it as he obviously wasn’t ready and I know from other people that it could have set him back even more rather than encourage it. Still, it’s taken a long time and we have introduced Thomas & Friends …

Review – The autumn menu at Brewer’s Fayre

Autumn. My favourite season. Time for snuggly jumpers, scarves, boots, log fires, and hot chocolates with marshmallows. I didn’t have that, but on Monday we did sample the new autumn menu from Brewer’s Fayre. We were lucky enough to be invited to Cheswold Lodge in Doncaster to do so. I didn’t know that there was also a play centre there so we ended up eating in there, but it was worth the £3 each (for 1.5 hours of play time) to keep the boys amused between courses! It was quiet in the main restaurant area when we arrived at 4.30pm …
