Little man N at 6 months old

On N’s monthly updates I usually tend to say that the time has gone quick – this month for some reason, it seems to have dragged (no idea why). But, I still can’t believe he’s 6 months old. He’s half. a. year. old!  He was weighed at 24 weeks and he was 20 lb 6 oz. He is still shooting ahead of what J was at the same age. The health visitor sounded a little concerned about how much he was gaining and how much he was feeding – I’m not worried though; what am I supposed to do, not …

A to Z of Family – J is for (little man) J

In the A to Z of Family series, what could J be for, other than little man J? He is one of the main subjects of this blog, so of course it had to be. 3 years (and 2 days) ago, we saw J for the first time. He was a little blob on the ultrasound screen. We had waited over 2.5 years for this moment. It was magical. Surreal. That was our much waited for, much longed for, clomid baby. He looked perfect. He arrived into our lives a week and a day later than he was supposed to. But …

A to Z of Family – I is for Independence

Independence is something which every child will gain as they are growing. They obviously start to gain it in stages at a few months old – sitting, rolling, crawling, walking, feeding themselves. At 2 years old, little man J has gained so much independence, so quickly, recently. He doesn’t like it if you do a lot for him, and he will have a bit of strop until you put things back as they were and let him do it for himself. (If you have read the blog recently, unfortunately this independence hasn’t gotten as far as the toilet yet!). The …

A to Z of Family – H is for (Little) Helper

Recently J has become a real little helper for Mummy. I say he helps, he attempts to but with some things I let him then just do it again when he’s not looking… Though sometimes his help is really more of a hinderance! I do appreciate the thought though and that he just wants to be like Mummy. Some of the jobs he likes to help with: dusting  sweeping the floor  cleaning accidents on the carpet fetching nappies putting nappies in the bucket putting toys away taking the dishes away (which always nearly gives me a mild heart attack when …

One year (and strange goings on)

One year ago today my mother-in-law passed away after a battle with cancer. I don’t think I need to write how heartbroken we all were (and still are, in fact). Little man J was only 16 months old at the time so he didn’t really know what was going on but we try not to let him forget her. Something strange happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. We were all in bed sleeping, and as usual around 2 am, I heard that J had climbed out of bed and was stood at his gate shouting for me. Usually …
