Growing Up With Screens: How Childhood & Technology Have Changed

A childhood of technology

Thinking back on my childhood, it differs so much to how my children’s is panning out. Not in a bad way; it’s far from it that I had a bad childhood, it’s more so in the way the world and its inclusion of technology is evolving. When I was as old as my children are now – we’re talking 25 years ago (I know it’s not that long ago, but it feels like it!) – there wasn’t the technology available in the abundance that there is nowadays.

Inside the boys’ Easter basket

Last year was the first year that we were a family of four. N was only a few weeks old, but I made an Easter basket – well, actually a papier mache chicken – for J, so I thought I would carry on the tradition and do another one this year. Our Easter Plans – Family, Chocolate, and Crafts!

Zip It & Train! | Book review

As an avid reader and now writing my own book review blog, I want to make sure that my boys love reading too. J is at that stage now where he is starting to want to read them himself, and he sometimes reads to his brother, too (when he’s feeling a sharing mood). At the minute though it’s the case that I read them a few times and J memorises it so is able to repeat, which I think is wonderful! We were recently sent two new books from Little Tiger Press which he has taken to; they are his …

Toddler troubles – sibling jealousy?

I mentioned briefly in J’s last update that we are having a few problems with J’s behaviour towards his brother, which is really getting me down lately. I really don’t know where to start to be honest. He started a couple of months ago, which thinking about it is coincidentally around the same time as N started moving about a lot more so requiring much more of my attention, meaning J getting a little less so most likely getting jealous. First he started with smacking him on his head, then he started pushing him backwards when he was just sat there …
