Stepping into autumn with JD Williams review - NSIWE

After dropping 4 dress sizes since last year, I have had to constantly replace my wardrobe. Throughout my journey, it has always been from shopping in charity shops, or in the sales, so I’m not spending lots of money just to replace my clothes every few months. Now I am almost at the target and pretty much comfortable with the clothes size I currently am, I have started buying full-priced clothes!

I do like to be season savvy, though, and have a few pieces that can take me from one season to another. When JD Williams asked me if I would like to choose a couple of items from their website, I couldn’t wait to get looking! I do love virtual shopping, but usually I will fill my basket and then abandon it when it gets into the £ 100s – oops. JD Williams has lots of great value items of clothing and footwear, though, so as easy as it would be to spend a lot, it is also just as easy to find something to suit a smaller budget.

My thoughts – dress

I decided to go for a summer dress that would work just as well in autumn. The ditsy print with the frill detail sleeves gives it a bit more of an edge. It slips on easily over the head, and the waist is elasticated. I ordered a size 10 and it is a really comfortable fit; there is plenty of wiggle room, perfect for a big meal where you bloat up like a balloon! It combines two layers of material: a thin, floaty material on top with a thicker layer underneath. Perfect for keeping cool in the summer, but warm enough for autumn too.

My thoughts – boots

In the autumn, I love wearing dresses with thick tights and ankle boots. There is so much choice with boots from JD Williams, but in the end I went for these Heavenly Soles leather ankle boots. I was won over by the gold detail on the heel, along with the matching buckle detail. A photo doesn’t do them justice; they are absolutely beautiful, seeing them right in front of you, being real leather also. I love the fact that JD Williams does different width fittings as I have always struggled with boots. I usually have to go up a size, but these in my usual size 5 are perfect. There is plenty of room inside, and they haven’t caused any discomfort while walking.

The boots are very versatile and, as well as complementing the dress I chose, they also go really well with a pair of skinny jeans and a tee for a more casual autumn look. Both the dress and boots have now claimed their place as my favourite pieces in my wardrobe!
