When we moved home back in September last year, we gained a lot more space than we had previously in our 2 bed flat and we didn’t even have space for a computer table, let alone a complete office. We had planned on making one of our rooms into an office, but the boys’ space became priority and so we still don’t have an office (it became a play room instead!), but we do now have a computer table, which is progress! It is still in a small space, but I am planning on making it nice & cosy for both us to use – me for my blogging, and hubby for his games.
We’re all dreamers though aren’t we, and if we don’t have our ideal space, we are nearly always dreaming about what it would be like. I would love a loft office with a slanted roof to have a VELUX blind, it would feel like a proper little hideaway! This is what I would imagine my office to be like:
I like bright colours rather than monochrome, but for an office I would go for something more calming & muted, so along the lines of a lemon yellow and white. Read on to take a look at my office basics wish list!
Corner workstation
I love corner desks and workstations and I think this Micke one from IKEA looks simple, modern & stylish and could be jazzed up with yellow accessories.
Office chair
A comfortable office chair is a must but as I am always up & about while working, this Shortcut one from Turnstone would be ideal.
Floor lamp
I love floor lamps in an office as they don’t take up valuable desk space, and I love this Bauhaus Ochre Yellow one, it’s modern & stylish.
Wall prints
I love a typography print, and I would probably have a few scattered around my walls. Etsy is great for prints and I really love these three.
VELUX blind
One of the main focal points would be the window, so I would love a VELUX blind, one from the Colour Collection by Scholten & Baijings (grey with lemon stripes).
As well as these basics, I would also choose some yellow desk accessories; a desk tidy, paper trays, and a white vase with a single yellow flower. I think these would set the room off just nicely and it would be a calming place to work, when I find the time of course!
What would be on your office basics wish list?
Collaborative post
All look very nice. We used to have an office room pre-kids, but we had a massive desktop computer then. Don’t think we really need one now that we use laptops
We have a laptop and hubby uses the PC so it is handy having a computer table 🙂
Consider the mobility factor when chairs are in use and size of the desk area surrounding it.
