Weight loss – week 2

So here I am, into week 2 of my new (and hopefully final!) weight loss journey. I’ve been slacking a bit more this week than I did last week. The beginning of the week went okay, and then I missed one day of tracking and it went a bit downhill from there. It always happens. I wouldn’t say I ate much more than I usually do when I strictly log, but I maybe had a few extra nibbles that may have taken me over my calories. Also I had one or two emotional days where I just couldn’t stop eating – I …

Meal Planning Monday – 18th August

So, last week’s meal plan didn’t quite, well, go to plan. We went to visit a friend on Friday evening and by the time we left it was a little late to go home and cook so we had a cheeky KFC! And then we had Friday’s meal on Saturday, so Saturday’s meal was scrapped altogether. Meal plan for w/c 18th August: Monday – Turkey burgers with sweet potato wedges Tuesday – Cauliflower cheese pasta Wednesday – Vegetable stir fry (with whatever sauce is in the cupboard) Thursday – We’re at my Mum’s tonight Friday – Smoked mackerel with new potatoes …

Recipe – Cinnamon sugar stamped biscuits (#GreatBloggersBakeOff2014)

I first made these biscuits when I was trying to find something cinnamon to go in one of my foodie penpals parcels. They are totally coated in cinnamon sugar yet it isn’t too overpowering – they are very moreish! Ingredients (makes approx. 30) Biscuits 200 g butter 200 g caster sugar 1 tsp vanilla (optional) 1 egg 425 g plain flour Cinnamon sugar  (You will find that this makes more than you need but you can save it for future. You can also add more/less sugar/cinnamon to your taste) 1 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup ground cinnamon Method Preheat oven …

A to Z of Family – I is for Independence

Independence is something which every child will gain as they are growing. They obviously start to gain it in stages at a few months old – sitting, rolling, crawling, walking, feeding themselves. At 2 years old, little man J has gained so much independence, so quickly, recently. He doesn’t like it if you do a lot for him, and he will have a bit of strop until you put things back as they were and let him do it for himself. (If you have read the blog recently, unfortunately this independence hasn’t gotten as far as the toilet yet!). The …

ElevEase Shower Step | Review

During my pregnancy with N, I suffered with backache right from the beginning and it was pretty awful towards the end. This made “grooming” my legs a real problem – it hurt so much to bend over to reach so I went for the gorilla look mostly (I even tweeted about it under #pregnancyproblems) – it’s a good job I was heavily pregnant through the winter so as not to scare everyone! Having PCOS means when I defuzz, my hair grows back really quickly and if I want to wear a dress or shorts in the summer months then I have …
