As it’s only been Jacob’s first year at school, I’ve never done the whole “buying gifts for teachers” thing. He’d had five teachers over the course of the year, so I didn’t really want to spend too much money. Therefore, I decided we would go for the personal touch and make some chocolate bark!
There are so many variations – you could chuck in whatever ingredients you want. We made two versions: white chocolate with salted caramel pretzels and fudge pieces and milk chocolate with crushed honeycomb and dried fruit. It’s so easy to make too – it can be done in ten minutes, plus setting time in the fridge.
The ingredients listed are suggestions – you could use whatever you have in your cupboard. This is just a cheap easy gift idea, or even great to snack on whilst watching a movie. Kids and adults alike will love it!
Milk chocolate honeycomb bark

Ingredients
- 600g milk chocolate, broken into squares
- 2 Crunchie chocolate bars, roughly smashed/crumbled
- 70g dried berries & cherries
White chocolate pretzel bark

Ingredients
- 600g white chocolate, broken into squares
- 16-20 salted caramel pretzels
- 50g mini fudge chunks (like these)
- rainbow star sprinkles (like these)
Method
- Line a large deep rectangular baking tray with grease-proof paper, or use a silicone one with no need to line.
- Gently melt your chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a pan of lightly simmering water.
- Leave to cool for a few minutes, then carefully pour into the tray.
- Top with your chosen ingredients, and gently press down if needed. (For the honeycomb bark, leave a little honeycomb to sprinkle over the top).
- Put it in the fridge to set, then have fun breaking it up!
- Put in cellophane bags to give as gifts, or a bowl to share; either way, enjoy!
