I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned on the blog, but many moons ago, I was a student at the University of Hull. Many moons is approximately a decade and a year ago… That makes me feel quite old, actually. I was studying for a degree in Psychology with Criminology. Although I only finished with a Diploma due to suffering badly with depression during my final year, being a student there before that really set in was one of the best times of my life.
Source Whilst I’ve shared many snippets of our life on the blog – especially one of the more personal taboo, unspoken subjects of my mental health struggles – there’s one major part of our life I haven’t really spoken about. And that is, autism. A while ago I wrote a letter of sorts to my fellow special needs parents and that was really the first indicator on here, that we were dealing with this.
One of Jacob’s subjects he is passionate about right now is the world and countries; he owns a number of atlases which he studies every night before going to sleep. We will often be having a conversation and he’ll randomly tell me a fact about the world that I had no idea of. We generally have staycations but J is always telling me of the places he would love to visit. Once again Father’s Day is just around the corner; I’m not sure about you but I find men increasingly difficult to buy gifts for! I mean, do they want something they want, or something they need? And what do you buy the man that has everything? Food gifts? Grooming gifts? Useful gifts? Personalised gifts?…
Many of my friends will know how much I love organising parties, but I didn’t have any plans for one for either of the boys’ birthdays this year. Quite simply because Jacob just cannot deal with the amount of people these days. For Noah’s birthday treat we took him to the local trampoline park and then out to Pizza Hut.
