Blackberry & apple crumble | Recipe

Now in my opinion, you can’t beat a good crumble. Usually good for autumn & winter, but it’s perfect for our ‘summer’ at the minute! We had acquired some fresh apples & blackberries so I thought I would use them together in a crumble for Sunday dessert. The oats in the topping make it extra crunchy. Ingredients (serves 6) Filling 250 g blackberries 4 large apples, cored, peeled & diced 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp caster sugar 1/2 tsp mixed spice Topping 240 g plain flour 120 g butter, room temperature 120 g caster sugar 50 g porridge oats …

Chatterbox Walls personalised print | Review

I have mentioned before how I love personalised items, especially those to brighten up my home, so when the guys at Chatterbox Walls offered me one of their prints to review I gladly accepted. The selection and ordering process is so easy. The website is simple & well laid out so you can easily look through all of the available categories & prints, with the most popular displayed on the home page. After looking through literally all of the prints as I just couldn’t decide, I finally settled on the ‘Our Song‘ print. It’s a simple print, with a record and your …

Weight loss – week 3

So week 2 has been and gone and here I am into week 3. Like last week, I started the beginning of the week doing well then went downhill; and then again, I had a couple of emotional days and either continuously ate, or ate junk. I wish I was one of those people who went off food instead. The weekends are still going well with the Monday weigh in causing me not to pig out. I didn’t even do as much walking last week as I was so tired for one reason or another and I just couldn’t be bothered to …

Meal Planning Monday – 25th August

My meal plan from last week went to plan other than on Friday. We visited hubby’s Nan at lunchtime and Father-in-law bought us fish & chips for lunch so we just had sandwiches for dinner. On Saturday we had naan bread pizzas though as I didn’t have any pizza bases nor any yeast to make some – they were delicious though! I only have half a meal plan this week because we go away on Friday, so there won’t be one for the whole of next week either. Meal plan for w/c 25th August: Monday – Minted lamb kofta kebabs, broad bean …

Recipe – Sun-dried tomato & red onion topped focaccia (#GreatBloggersBakeOff2014)

I don’t often bake bread as I’m a much better baker of sweet items, but I needed wanted to join in with the #GreatBloggersBakeOff2014 again so I thought I’d attempt something which I’d made before – focaccia (though it was much better last time – this was a rush job in the end!). It is lovely & soft on both the inside & outside. Eat on its own or it’s also yummy dipped in balsamic vinegar. Ingredients (serves 4) 450 g strong white flour 1 sachet fast action yeast 1 tsp sea salt 250 ml warm water 4 tbsp olive oil 1 …
