I’m Stacey, a bookworm (or should that be dragon?!) from a quaint hamlet on the outskirts of Lincolnshire. In my late 30s, I’m a devoted mum to two wonderful boys who are both autistic—a unique aspect that makes them different, not less. I also share my home with my husband and Barney, my lovable Frenchie x Beagle.

Jus-Rol pizza bases in packet

Last year I took part in The Great Bloggers Bake Off and during the pastry weeks I was always annoyed with my own efforts as I have never been very good at making pastry in all honesty – I always try to make it myself but if it goes wrong, then ready made it is! (I usually always have some in the freezer for such happenings). I didn’t know until I saw them on the shelf but Jus-Rol do pizza bases and also ready to bake croissants! I’ve always fancied making my own croissants but this is the next best …

The dangers of carbon monoxide – a campaign & giveaway (CLOSED)

Do you know how safe your home is? I mean, if you have small babies or toddlers then you probably have stair gates, socket safety plugs, blind cords attached to the wall; you most likely lock your door to keep your home safe when you go out; you most definitely make sure candles are blown out before you go to bed? I had an okay week to start with which slowly went downhill at the weekend as we had a takeaway, but come Monday I had my head back in the game as I wanted that number on the scales, so I was right back on it!

Our first Parenting Pitstop session

I posted last week about how J & I were attending our first ‘Parenting Pitstop‘ session. It was only an hour session this time but the usual ones are one and three-quarter hours long. I was feeling really nervous about leaving him to play even though he was under supervision, but just the fact it was a new setting and I wasn’t there worried me; how he’d act without me there, if he’d get upset, and so on. When it came to it though, he didn’t even notice me leaving! They actually do a countdown so the children are given …

Parenting Pitstop – trying to deal with J’s challenging behaviour

You may have read my previous posts about J’s challenging behaviour and I have been at my wits end for months, fast running out of ideas on how to deal with it. I’ve spoken with nursery, I’ve spoken with the health visitor, I’ve spoken with one of my friends who worked in a nursery for a long time; I’ve consulted the internet, blogs, my peers, but nothing seems to change. So either this is just instilled into him or I am just a rubbish mother! Anyway, a few weeks ago I had quite a breakdown with his behaviour. I was …
