Let’s talk school run style. Well, we’ll start with school mornings in general. I’m not a fan, in all honesty. I’m really not an early bird, the boys just mess about eating their breakfast and getting dressed, they argue; but I do like being on time. I get anxious if we’re even running one minute late. So I’m the school run mum that just jumps out of bed and chucks my clothes on, ties my hair back, and doesn’t put any makeup on. I’m only a special occasion wearer of makeup to be honest!
I know we’re all different, and some parents go straight to work from school so they may need to make a bit more effort. But if you’re like me, then you want to be comfortable but still look a bit stylish too. I wouldn’t call myself a style icon (ha!) but I do like wearing bright colours; which thinking about it, is a bit strange for somebody who likes to blend into the background! I also like at least two of my garments to match, or complement each other, colour wise – so maybe I do make a little more effort than it first seems!
JD Williams asked me if I’d like to create an outfit based around their choice of cardigans, and I couldn’t wait to get started! I’ll never be a stylist to the stars, but what I’ve chosen really reflects my school run style. Comfort, colour, and…a cardigan.
I love how easy the JD Williams website is to navigate, with a multitude of categories and refinements to choose from. It’s brilliant that they cater for a large range of sizes too, with clothing from sizes 10-32. As this style challenge was based around cardigans, that’s where I went first. I have to say, it did take me a while to choose as there is such a large, diverse range for a variety of occasions. As I’ve based this on school run style, I decided on this boyfriend cardigan; a neutral colour, and it complements a range of outfits. Complete with pockets for the essentials like phone and keys, too.
Once I’d chosen a cardigan, it made it a bit easier to complete the rest of the outfit! I love a bright patterned t-shirt and own quite a collection, but I didn’t previously own a plain or striped one. So I thought this pack of two was perfect.
I often slip a pair of skinny jeggings on as I can really mix it up, and team these with a jumper, or a t-shirt and cardigan, and either a pair of ankle boots or trainers. I thought instead of my usual skinny jeggings, I’d go for these classic straight leg ones instead. Bonus points for coming in petite sizing!
Whilst looking for footwear I spotted these Gola Sandrio trainers and thought they were perfect – the grey complements the cardigan, and the pink sole complements the t-shirt. With the added bonus that they’re slip on and have cushioned soles, so handy if I’m in a rush.
Every single piece of this outfit is so comfortable. The cardigan is light enough to wear on its own on a mild day, or slip a jacket over it on a colder day. The loose-fitting t-shirts are great if you’re a bit wary of tops that cling around the stomach area. The jeggings have a stretchy waistband so no buttons digging in. And the trainers are so comfortable that I can hardly feel them when they’re on my feet!
I was sent these products for the purposes of this post. All thoughts and opinions are honest & my own.
