August Degustabox | Subscription Box Review

I am absolutely loving receiving a Degustabox through my letterbox every month. Well, obviously not through my letterbox, because it wouldn’t actually fit. So yeah, my door actually. I love the element of surprise, though I do hope that I will like everything that’s in it because, well, I adore food. Who doesn’t?

In the Degustabox:

  • Enjoy 10 to 15 surprise products, many are completely new to the market!
  • Receive your Degustabox every month filled with goodies.
  • All for much less than you would pay in the shops!

So, what was inside the August Degustabox?

Tabasco Sweet & Sticky Barbecue Sauce & Marinade

I love barbecue sauce, either as a dip or marinade. As this is from Tabasco I expected it to be really spicy but it actually wasn’t. It had a good barbecue tang to it with a good balance of sweet & spicy. I have only used it as a dip but I think it would be lovely with pulled pork.

Clipper Green Tea (Lime & Ginger)

Since I joined Slimming World I have been drinking more green tea than I did previously. I’ve had Clipper Green Tea before but not this flavour. I was a bit dubious as I don’t tend to enjoy lime or ginger too much in drink form, but neither flavour was overpowering and they matched together really well.

Nutripots (Aromatic Thai Noodles, Moroccan Couscous)

I do tend to have a stock of ‘lazy’ pasta or noodle packets or pots for those days when I just can’t be bothered to prepare anything, but I hadn’t heard of Nutripot before. I have to say I was surprised at the portion size of these, they are definitely filling! The couscous one was delicious, with quite a spicy kick. The Thai noodles didn’t look very appetising in my honest opinion, but the flavour was good, though the sauce did taste a bit grainy.

Dorset Cereals Bircher Muesli (Raspberry & Blackcurrant)

Overnight oats is a popular breakfast option on Slimming World, but as the name suggests, that is made with oats. This bircher muesli is a similar concept except it’s soaked with apple juice instead of just yogurt. Soaking in the juice overnight and then mixing in the yogurt in the morning makes the muesli deliciously creamy. It has a good amount of raspberries and blackcurrants anyway, but with the addition of apple juice it’s extra fruity. I also love the scoop that comes with it with the measurements inside for the muesli, juice, and yogurt.

Get More Vitamins Drink (Multivitamins – Sparkling Lemon & Lime)

I eat plenty of fruit & veg so I don’t particularly worry that I don’t get enough vitamins, but this is a refreshing citrus drink for anyone that does. Neither the lemon or lime was too overpowering, and it would be lovely on a hot day (that we seem to be getting randomly now!).

Oloves (Chilli & Oregano)

Olives are one of very few foods I don’t actually like, so I didn’t try these!

Mahou Cinco Estrellas

I don’t drink beer very often but The Husband likes one every now and again so he had this (though as with a previous box, I had a taste). It tasted quite smooth, not bitter, and was very refreshing. It was similar tasting to another leading brand Spanish beer.

Geeta’s Curry Pastes (Rogan Josh, Tikka)

I don’t tend to buy ready made curry pastes any more but they are handy for when you are in a hurry or can’t be bothered to stand and measure out all the different spices. Rogan josh is one of my favourites, and tikka is one of The Husband’s. Both pastes only required a few more ingredients to add, items that you would most probably have in already. They smelled divine when they were cooking and tasted absolutely delicious and authentic.

Geeta’s Premium Mango Chutney

I absolutely adore mango chutney; I sometimes actually just eat it straight from the jar with a teaspoon. Ahem. I’ve never had one like this though. This premium version contains a great blend of spices and some are actually still visible in the chutney, such as cloves. It wasn’t bitter like some mango chutney can be, but rather more flavoursome due to the spices. It still had good chunks of mango too.

Willy Chase’s Fit Popcorn (Goat’s Cheese, Red Onion & Thyme)

I don’t tend to buy savoury popcorn very often but I saw the flavour of this one and my mouth was watering. Cheese is one of my greatest food loves, as is red onion, so I imagined I would really like this. I loved it! I could honestly sit and eat the whole packet. There was plenty of seasoning to the popcorn but no particular flavour was overpowering. It’s a great healthy alternative to a packet of crisps!

Rakusen’s Snackers (Plain & Gluten Free)

I have to say the boys have eaten most of these at their snack times! The crackers themselves come in different shapes so are actually fun for children, and they are both crunchy and creamy tasting. It’s great that they come in a gluten free version too.

Pentiman’s (Sparkling Lime & Jasmine)

As I said earlier in the post, I don’t tend to like lime much in drink form. This drink was a very pretty bottle (!) but I have to say I wasn’t so keen on the flavour. I think was probably because of the jasmine flavour. It tasted rather bitter, and I personally think it is more of an acquired taste.
