Wednesday 11th September – 16w 16 weeks pregnant today. By this stage when pregnant with little man I was feeling more energetic and refreshed. Not this time. But that could be something to do with now having an energetic little man to look after all day, in person! And also with his late night parties. Though I got a lie in until 8.15am this morning, but I’ve been more tired than I was with yesterday’s 6am wake up!
Thursday 12th September – 16w 1d I have been in an absolutely FOUL mood today. Little man is going through an awful stroppy naughty phase and I think the tiredness and telling him off is getting to me! We also managed a 3 hour nap. Told you I was tired!
Friday 13th September – 16w 2d Berry has been very active today. Especially tonight, they have been wriggling and kicking an awful lot! It’s obviously good to feel though, always makes me feel relieved as there is still that occasional worry.
I also unpacked all my maternity clothes from little man, the good thing is that I am pregnant at the same stage in the same seasons as I was with him. Hopefully they all still fit!
Saturday 14th September – 16w 3d My latest dream last night wasn’t anything too spectacular or weird, but I lived in Hong Kong, it was pretty cool!
We’ve had a long day out today and I am shattered, more than usual! Little man slept the whole way home though so he’s wide awake, I think I will be in bed before him at this rate!
Tuesday 17th September – 16w 6d Little man & I both woke up full of cold today. We’ve had a cosy morning on the sofa, and most of the afternoon snuggled up asleep in bed! He’s gone to stay with his Grandad tonight (the first time since MiL passed away) so I am going to get a little rest tomorrow until he comes back! I love him and miss him like crazy but it’ll be good!
At 16 weeks, berry is the size of an avocado.
Berry’s muscles are developed enough so they can hold their head erect in a straight line.
The facial muscles can display a variety of expressions.
Berry’s hands can now reach each other.
They are emptying their bladder every 40 to 45 minutes (a bit like Mummy!)
Berry is covered in lanugo.
The ears have moved from the neck to the head.
The pattern of hair on their scalp has begun to develop.
Berry’s heart is pumping around 28 litres of blood each day.
Berry’s weight will start to double over the next couple of weeks.
Thursday 5th September – 15w 1d I’m sure I saw berry kicking for the first time today! It’s much earlier than with little man though, we first saw him kicking at 21+1. I forgot how amazing it was to see your belly moving.
Friday 6th September – 15w 2d Think I’m coming down with a cold or something. My nose is running. I have a headache. I can barely keep my eyes open. All I’ve wanted to do is sleep. Fat chance of that though! I always manage to have about 10 colds when I’m pregnant and can’t take a lot. Hopefully it won’t last too long though.
I had a dream about my Nanna last night. Wouldn’t usually be significant but she passed away in December 2011. It got me very emotional as I got to hug her again.
I also had my MOT at the midwives today. Everything was fine. I’m not back there until the end of December now though for my 34 week appointment as I will have my 28 week one when I have my GTT up at the hospital. Though I’ll actually be having my 34 week one a little early as they don’t have next years diary yet. Also got a prescription for Vitamin D tablets, because I’m fat and I need it as I can’t absorb it properly.
Saturday 7th September – 15w 3d I had another dream last night, another celeb one. This time it was Jean Claude Van Damme. Though hubby claims I told him this morning that it was actually Arnie Schwarzenegger. Either way, pretty much the same. It’s kind of vague now but I remember that he had 3 wives, I was one of them, and I had to kill him. I did it! It was a task & a half though.
Sunday 8th September – 15w 4d Been forgetting to take my iron and Vitamin D tablets. I must remember. Both very important. Bad Stacey.
Monday 9th September – 15w 5d I am so emotionally and physically exhausted right now. Little man is going through a terrible hitting & tantrum stage, and it’s wearing me down so much. I just want a break, for a day, so I can spend it in bed! Ha, yeah right!
At 15 weeks, berry is the size of an apple.
Berry has started to hear things from inside & outside.
Berry’s eyes have become sensitive to light and may register a bright light from the outside.
Hiccups have started! But they can’t be felt yet.
Berry’s legs are growing longer than their arms now.
The skin has developed but is still very very thin and translucent.
Wednesday 28th August – 14w I had my second 12 week scan today – obviously at 14 weeks though! As usual I was nervous, but I got in there and the heartbeat was there, everything was fine. Phew. Baby was measuring spot on. We opted for the NT test again, baby just would not cooperate. They were very bouncy and waving though! Just like their big brother was at his… The sonographer couldn’t the fluid measurement, so she suggested I empty my bladder to see if baby would change position, which I did and baby didn’t. Little monkey. She actually asked if I’d been drinking caffeine as that’s what usually happens when baby won’t stay still, but no, I’m just growing another wriggler! So I went and had a rest and a walk for 20 minutes and then went back. She was successful this time and got the measurement. After the scan I had to have my bloods done, and I also made an appointment for my GTT, at the beginning of December. Our next scan is mid October so I’m counting down to that now. And I’m determined to have a surprise!
Friday 30th August – 14w 2d Now it wouldn’t be my diary if I didn’t mention how tired I was. This time because little man decided to have a party for the last two nights in a row, starting at 4am. Zzzzzzzzz…
I seem to have become a bit addicted to Quavers. I can’t stop eating them.
Saturday 31st August – 14w 3d We started drawing up a list of names today! Finding boys names so much harder, again, especially because we want a particular meaning this time. Got a good list of girls names though!
Sunday 1st September – 14w 4d I seem to have killed Sir David Frost this time. R.I.P.
Up until now I’ve just managed without my maternity clothes, but I think it’s time they came out again. I’ve been using the old bobble trick on my jeans! But they are still uncomfortable. I need to bring my box back from the inlaws and sort them out.
At 14 weeks, berry is the size of a nectarine.
This week berry can squint, frown, grimace, wee, and possible suck their thumb. It’s all go!
The kidneys are producing urine which is being released into the amniotic fluid.
The lanugo is starting to develop.
Soft nails have developed on their fingers and toes.
Berry’s blood is starting to form in the bone marrow and blood vessels.
On Wednesday we made another unscheduled visit to the hospital. This time to the antenatal day unit for assessment, after me being a worrying mummy-to-be again, and the little monkey playing games again. Number one, because little man hadn’t been moving much (again!), and number two, because on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning I had had some greenish discharge (yuk!). I knew that could mean baby had pooped, so thought it best to get checked out. It felt like a tour of all the rooms!
It was later in the afternoon so didn’t have much of a wait when we got there. First I was hooked up to the machine again to check baby’s heart rate and movements, though it was a different one this time, where I had to press a button every time I felt him move. Sure enough, 5 or 10 minutes after I was hooked up, he started moving! Doh! So I wasn’t on there for long as she was happy with his movements for the next 10-15 mins, in fact he gave me one almighty kick which took me by surprise! I then had to do a urine sample, which again came back with traces of protein like the one from my previous midwife appointment, so she was sending that off.
Then we went for a growth scan, so we got to see him again (well, bits of him, as he’s obviously grown a lot since 20 weeks!). Measurements were good and he is growing fine.
Finally, we went to another room for me to be ‘examined’. Not the most dignified of experiences just like my HSG, but it had to be done! Though I’m getting used to those kind of examinations now, and it’ll be the same on Sunday anyway if he hasn’t arrived by then! And let’s not forget when I give birth too! Anyway, the midwife confirmed there was a bit of greenish discharge, and she has also sent that off in case of infection or anything. Apart from that, everything seemed fine ‘down there’ too.
So I’m pretty sure I felt baby G move on Tuesday (15+2)! It was after our midwife appointment, we were at the supermarket and I suddenly felt fluttering in my tummy, you know like when you have one of those twitches you can’t control, and like butterflies! It lasted about 2 or 3 minutes, but I wasn’t sure at first because I didn’t feel anything again until last night when I went to bed, it was exactly the same and lasted 1 or 2 minutes.
I had to ask people on the forum as I wasn’t sure, I thought it might be my tummy messing me about or rumbling or something, but even so, I’ve never felt anything like this before, so it seems so! When I was reading the replies to my post I felt it again, and I can feel slightly now as I’m writing this!
Hubby keeps trying to feel it, but I told him he won’t be able to feel anything just yet, so he just keeps talking to bump instead, bless him!
