The A-Z of Me

I saw this over on Stressed Rach and thought I’d give it a go too, so you can find out a bit more about me!

ANORAK: Do you have a sad side?

I love lists. Lists are SO useful. I make them for everything. I make lists for lists. Hubby also calls me ‘anal’ – I prefer OCD – because everything in the kitchen cupboards  has to be in categories, and all facing the same way, etc. etc…

BODY: What physical attribute would you most like to change?
My teeth… I hate them but still haven’t plucked up the courage to go to the dentist… It’s something I should put on one of my lists really.
CELEBRITY: Which one would you most like to date and why?
Ian Somerhalder! If you watch The Vampire Diaries you will know EXACTLY who I mean… I have daydreams about him… *La la la la la*. Just because.

DEBUT: Tell us about your first ever blog post. What made you start blogging?
My first blog post was on January 5th 2011. It was about a friend who had just given birth. It was when I was going through a really tough time TTC. I started blogging to get my thoughts & feelings down on the journey of infertility.
ERROR: What’s been your biggest regret?
Dropping out of Uni in my final year. I spent so much time studying and now have barely anything to show for it. We learn from our mistakes though.
FUNNY: Who’s making you laugh?
The little man! Every day he does something new which has me in stitches of laughter! For example he will just sit there flapping his arms in front of him going ‘rar rar rar rar rar’, so funny!
GRAND: If we gave you one right now what would you spend it on?
Probably a little break away, and then put some in little man’s savings.
HOLIDAY: What’s your favourite destination?
We love the Highlands of Scotland. We first went in 2007 and fell in love, we go back at least once every other year.

IRRITATE: What’s your most annoying habit?
Well obviously I don’t think I have any annoying habits… But hubby would probably say when he asks me if I want some chocolate or anything from the shop, and I say no, then it gets to like 10pm and I change my mind!
JOKER: What’s your favourite joke {the one that makes you laugh every time you hear it}?
Knock knock.
Who’s there?
Doctor Who.
KENNEL: Do you have any pets?
LOVE: Are you single, married, engaged, living with a long term partner?
Married. For 5 years in July.

MEAL: What’s your ultimate starter, main and dessert?
Starter: Stuffed mushrooms with garlic & cheese.
Main: Steak, crispy chips, crispy onion rings, and salad.
Dessert: Lemon cheesecake.
NOW: If you could be anywhere right now where would you be and who with?Somewhere across the other side of the world (either side!) with hubby and the little man.
OFF DUTY: What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time?! What’s that?! When I get the chance, I’m a bit of a competition addict… And I love to bake too.
PROUD MOMENTS: What are you most proud of?
That I managed to help create an amazing, gorgeous little boy.
QUEASY: What turns your stomach?
Not a lot makes me queasy actually, I love gory films! But probably seeing operations on the TV!
RELAX: How do you relax?
Reading, usually at bedtime.
SONG: What’s your favourite song of all time?
Bon Jovi – Always.
Just love it.

TIME: If you could go back in time and relive it again, when would you choose?
Probably to around 2004/2005, when I was choosing my Uni courses. I focused on Psychology, when I wish now it had been Criminology.
UNKNOWN: Tell us something about yourself that no one else knows?
Ooh I don’t know… I can’t think of anything!
VOCAL: Who is your favourite artist?
(Jon) Bon Jovi. Totally amazing live, too.
WORK: What is your dream job, and are you doing it now?
I would love to own a little cake shop! I doubt I ever will though…
XRAY: Any broken bones?
No, never! The only times I’ve ever been to hospital too have been baby related!
YIKES: What’s been your most embarrassing moment?
Being rather drunk on a Uni night out and being sick all over the toilet floor, and then falling asleep at the toilet when I got home… Not that I remember much of it!
ZOO: If you were an animal, which one would you be?
A giraffe! I’d like to be tall for just one day…

My highs and lows of 2012

Kate On Thin Ice has posted a blog prompt about highs and lows of this year, I’m taking part as I thought it would be a good way to sum up my year.

1. What was your happiest event?

Well of course it has to be the birth of our little man, who we spent what felt like a lifetime waiting to meet!

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?

Our miscarriage. It totally knocked me for six and aside from LTTTC, it was probably the worst/saddest experience of my life, yet alone year.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that you actually went ahead and did?

Apart from having a baby, this year hasn’t been that eventful so I can’t really answer this… I need to be more adventurous I think!

4. Who let you down?

Nobody really. Except myself. And I think we can probably gather why I think that is.

5. Who supported you?

My hubby. He’s been there through everything this year – , my Nan’s death/funeral, giving birth, PND/anxiety, the miscarriage. I really don’t think I could have done it without him, I would have hit lower than I already was/am. My counsellor. He helped me see some things in a different light, some of which I still tell myself today, to help me get through. Some of my virtual friends, and especially one of my bestie blogging friends (she knows who she is!), when I started miscarrying and supported me throughout that horrid weekend, and afterwards. And one of my best friends in ‘real’ life.

6. Tell us one thing you learned

That there isn’t a ‘right’ way to parent, everybody is different and we shouldn’t judge that, no matter the subject!

7. Tell us one thing that made you laugh

Watching little man humping everything as he was learning to crawl!

8. Tell us one thing that made you cry

Miscarrying little angel bean. It still does.

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud.

Learning to sit unaided.

Learning to crawl.

Learning to clap by himself!

10. Tell us one thing that made you proud of yourself

Getting through labour & birth with just gas & air! I thought I would be having everything going!

11. Tell us one challenge you overcame

Battling through PND & anxiety. Still not totally there yet, but who knows when?

12. Tell us three things you would like to change about your life in 2013.

I want to go back to studying. I feel like a failure for only getting as far as I did at Uni, and I want to change that as I don’t want to be stuck in the same old circle forever.

I want to learn to drive! I think it would help so much with little man & I getting out & about and give us a more exciting day to day life!

I want to get to my weight loss goal. I had planned on doing that by the end of this year but with one thing after another I haven’t got there. I am determined next year as I’m not comfortable in my own skin right now.

I tag Not Even A Bag Of Sugar and Pow! Supermum! to take part. But you can also take part if you haven’t been tagged!

Christmas Meme

Well this is the kind of post that people usually get tagged in, I didn’t, but want to join in anyway as I’ve enjoyed reading some other answers and love talking about Christmas!

What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Well, there are so many things I love about Christmas! One of my most favourite things though is decorating the house with glitter and sparkle and prettiness! And also decorating presents with bows and ribbon!

What is your favourite make-up look for the festive season?

I have to be honest I barely wear make-up these days, I usually only go the whole hog on special occasions or a night out, which is a rarity these days! On Christmas Day though I’ll usually just go for a bit of mascara and lip gloss.

Real or fake tree?

I do love real trees, they do have a much more festive feel and can be recycled, so also good for the environment, but we have a fake one.

Giving or receiving presents?

I’m not going to lie and say I don’t love receiving pressies, but I do love giving them much more. I plan it throughout the year, listening out for what people want/need, and then make a mental list, so I know they will get something they will really appreciate. I made hampers full of home-made edible treats last year which everyone really loved!

Do you open your presents in the morning or evening?

We usually alternate each year and go to family in the afternoon, so we open presents from family then, and then from each other in the evenbing when we get home. We have more on Boxing Day too from visiting the other lot of family! This year though now we have little man, we will be opening all our presents at home in the morning, and then family in the afternoon.

What’s your favourite Christmas film?

Oh, I love lots of Christmas films, but I’m going to say The Snowman as it was always a tradition growing up that I would watch it on Christmas morning before opening presents.

What is your favourite Christmas food?

Crispy roast potatoes! I know I can have them any time of the year but I always look forward to them on Christmas Day! Other than that I would say Christmas pudding with loooooooooads of double cream, so naughty but nice!

I’m going to tag Pow! Supermum!, and anyone else who wants to join in!

The Olympic Meme

Thank you to Emmy’s Mummy for passing the Olympic torch over to me!

1. If every day tasks were Olympic events what would you get a gold medal in?
Cleaning & sterilising bottles! I can practically do it on autopilot now I have my little routine set out.

2. As a child (or now even) did you excel at a particular sport and if so which one?
I wasn’t really into sports at school – I had the “last person to get picked for a team” syndrome! I did enjoy netball though and was always goalkeeper!

3. Michael Phelps (swimmer) or Michael Johnson (runner) – which sport appeals to you more?
Now this is an easy one for me – running! As I can’t swim, I always avoided swimming lessons at school, I hated it! Though now I wish I hadn’t. I started the Couch to 5k running programme last year and really enjoyed it, I hope to get back into it soon.

4. How fast can you get out of bed and ready to go out the door if you miss the alarm and sleep in?
Pre-baby days, it would have been probably 15 minutes! Nowadays, I’d need to get little man ready, and me, so probably 20-30 minutes, once I’ve got us both dressed and a bottle sorted! I usually have nappies and a change of clothes in my bag so wouldn’t need to sort that out.

5. What fantasy sport would you like to see made into an Olympic event?
Inventing, baking, and decorating cupcakes! I love it!

6. Claim to fame time – Have you ever met an Olympian and who was it?
No. I know of some Olympians, but I probably wouldn’t realise it at the time!

7. What event in past Olympics can you remember most vividly?
I haven’t really watched many Olympics, I only really became interested in the last lot of games, and nothing major, that I can remember, from then.

8. Tuning in at home, not for me, or tickets clamped ready in sweaty palms?
Tuning in at home. I didn’t apply for tickets, but have been trying to win some with no success!

9. Who do you think most deserves a gold medal? (Any walk of life, not just Olympians)
My mother in law. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer, had chemotherapy, a mastectomy, lost all of her hair, and came through the other side. She has recently been diagnosed that it has come back in her lymph glands but is battling on for her Grandson.
