So this is the final week that buddy has enjoyed with us. It’s been quite hard finding different things for him to every day as we just don’t have the time, I don’t know how other people do it! So it’s mainly been a case of hiding him somewhere for J to find. He has still enjoyed it though and gets excited when he finds him. I’m not sure how he’s going to be when Buddy has gone though, I imagine he’ll still look for him for a while!
So here’s what Buddy has been up to in his final week:
Buddy got caught in the holly whilst looking at himself in the mirror.
Buddy brought a Christmas sticker & activity book for J, which he has been doing every day – he loves his stickers.
Buddy wanted to hang around with Vernon the Elf who joined us around 3 years ago after I won him in a giveaway!
Buddy decided he wanted to be a fairy today but the fairy wouldn’t let him sit right at the top, so he had to sit on branch.
Buddy decided to take up residence in my stocking!…
Buddy fancied a trip to the moon today!
Buddy brought Christmas Eve bags full of treats for the boys and then he said his goodbyes, until next year…
This week hasn’t really been planned as much as last week
was as we’ve both just been way too tired so it’s been a kind of “Ooh, let’s put him somewhere quick before we go to bed!” kind of week. Nonetheless, J has still enjoyed finding him and he’s just embarked on his final week here before heading back to the North Pole until next year.
Here’s what Buddy got up to this week…
Buddy got caught in the card holder and it took a while for J to spot him!
Buddy decided to catch a lift in the digger!
Buddy was caught playing naughty games on Daddy’s Xbox!
Buddy got himself stuck inside the lego box! It took J a while to spot him today too.
Buddy decided the wreath was a good place to sit. Neither hubby nor J spotted him for a long time!
Buddy brought some paint & supplies to decorate the salt dough we made last week.
Santa & Chris-moose came from the North Pole to have a picnic breakfast. J was so cute and even got them a drink from his kitchen then sat and joined them.
This was one of ‘those’ evenings and Buddy, Santa & Chris-moose had a boogie in front of the Christmas tree..
Join us again next week for Buddy’s final week of adventures before heading back to the North Pole!
Last week Buddy arrived from the North Pole with a North Pole breakfast for us all, which went down a treat (I’m hoping he leaves some for us on Christmas Day too!). He’s been back & forth since then and after the shaky start, J had enjoyed looking for him every day and seeing what he’s got up to overnight. His first week with us went a bit like this…
Buddy knew the cereal J usually goes for so decided he would get in there first…
Buddy decided to just hang around watching TV today. It took a couple of minutes for J to spot him!
We caught Buddy helping himself to our advent calendar today! This elf is turning out to be rather mischievous…
Buddy reports back to Santa every evening but he was caught in the act still on the phone this morning…
Buddy decided it was time to watch himself and his buddies!
Today was a good day for Buddy to make snow angels! J loved this one and even brought Peppa & George to see.
Buddy was left to Daddy as Mummy forgot and he was found riding Daddy’s bike so he had to take the car to work…

So it’s the beginning of December (yay!), and a new tradition I wanted to introduce this year was the ‘Elf on the Shelf’. I’d seen people doing it last year and was really excited to see what all of the elves were getting up to, so as J is a bit older this year I decided to go for it! I didn’t buy an official elf on the shelf though, as I think they look just a little bit freaky – you know, like they might actually come off the shelf and kill me…or something. Instead, we purchased an elf ‘kit’ from a supermarket with a much cuter looking elf who we’ve named Buddy! (Can you tell what one of my favourite Christmas films is?..)
This morning – 1st December – Buddy arrived with a letter for the boys and served us up a North Pole breakfast. The breakfast consisted of Christmas tree & snowman crumpets, snowman pancakes, snowballs, and reindeer poo! It was yummy but I couldn’t eat it every day in the North Pole as I felt a bit sick afterwards.
At 9 months old, N isn’t really aware and all he wanted to do was eat, but when J walked in the room and saw breakfast set out and Buddy sat on the table, he was a bit wary and took some encouraging to get sat at the table! I asked him if he wanted to say hello to Buddy and he said “No, back on the shelf!” – he knows where he belongs then! He started coming around though, hopefully they’ll be the best of friends by the time Buddy goes back to the North Pole.
