So what was inside the April Degustabox?

Inside April Degustabox

Seabrook Lattice (Sea Salt and Black Pepper)

Seabrook is one of my favourite crisp brands so I expected that these would be good. And oh they were. They were a little spicy from the pepper, but not totally overwhelming. I just couldn’t stop eating them once I’d opened them (oops). In fact, I didn’t share these with anyone… The opening on the packet is great too, with a resealable flap, you know, just in case you can resist eating them all in one sitting. Ahem.

POLO Sugar Free Pot

I always keep a pot of sugar free mints in the car so these came in handy for that. They were just as I expected from POLO; I couldn’t even really tell that they were sugar free. I like the flip pot too, as it’s easy to open one-handed. Whilst driving.

CELIA Organic Lager

I’m not much of a lager drinker these days (gone are my Uni days); I usually prefer a nice cold cider or a glass of wine. I do like to try new lagers though, and I’d never heard of this one but have since spotted it in the supermarket! Anyway, it wasn’t too bitter and it had the definitive taste of a premium lager. It’s gluten free too – bonus.

Garofalo Whole Wheat Penne Pasta

Though I (mostly) follow the Slimming World plan, I’ve never actually bought whole wheat pasta. I think I always just expected it to be a bit chewy and grainy or something. This was good though; it had a sort of woody flavour to it, and even the boys ate it though it was a different colour!

GOOD HEMP Hemp Seed Hearts

I’ve heard of hemp, but not hemp seed hearts. I was actually quite puzzled as to what they were and didn’t really know what to do with them! So I took a suggestion from the packet and sprinkled some on my daily fruit & yogurt for breakfast. They have quite a nutty flavour, and are actually very tasty. I think they’d be great in a smoothie too.

Dorset Cereals Ultimate Adventure (Macchu Picchu)

I love muesli but I don’t tend to have it very often. If I do, it’s mixed in with fruit & yogurt to give a bit of crunch; so that’s what I did with this. The machu picchu flavour I received is a blend of oats and barley with brazil nuts, golden berries and a taste of coffee. It was lovely & crunchy and I loved the berries, but I couldn’t really taste the coffee.

Doisy & Dam’s Quinoa, Smoked Tea & Vanilla Chocolate

I was a bit wary of trying this chocolate. All three flavours on their own, yes. But quinoa (especially this!), and smoked tea, in chocolate? Well. It was quite an odd combination. I wouldn’t say it was awful, but it was quite a weird flavour combination. The quinoa gave it a bit of crunch, and the smoked tea gave it, well, a smoky flavour, that left a smoky after taste.

Nothing But (Strawberry & Banana, Peas & Sweetcorn)

I love freeze dried strawberries so I was expecting the fruity bag of these to be really tasty. They were, but there wasn’t really that much in them. I’d have preferred a larger quantity, in all honesty. I was a bit unsure of the peas and sweetcorn. I did eat the full packet, but they were a bit bland on their own.

Whitworths Full Of Super (VANILLA MACA-ROONS)

Whitworths is a brand I use a lot and is always great quality, so I was expecting great things from these maca-roons full of natural ingredients – almonds, flaked coconut, and golden flax seeds. They were very tasty and filling for a snack. Even The Husband liked them!

ViPnuts (Hot Chilli)

I love flavoured nuts so I was looking forward to trying these. They were HOT though – I love spicy food but these set my mouth on fire! Probably just a handful of these is enough if you don’t like too much spice. I do prefer sweeter nuts so I’d really like to try the Hot Toffee flavour!

Fentiman’s Tonic Water (Pink Grapefruit)

I’m not really keen on grapefruit so I wasn’t sure about trying this, but I did as I always like to try everything. I had two sips and couldn’t drink any more. It was really bitter. I think if you like grapefruit it could be really refreshing, but just not for me!
