Now I’ve got back into the swing of things with blogging again, I’m going to try and be a bit more timely with our favourite five updates! January has gone by in a bit of a blur if I’m honest; though we didn’t really have a lot on, but time seems to go by so quick these days.
Jacob started back at school; Barney really found his place in our home; I had a little trip away at the end of the month with my book blog partner in crime, to a multi author book signing in Birmingham; and when I came home I had a new neighbour in the form of my brother-in-law!
Here are our favourite five for January:
My new Cath Kidston bag
Since I first saw the book print from Cath Kidston last year, I had been lusting after a dress but I could never afford the price tag. Cue the new year sale and it was in it! But alas, not in my size. They did have the tote bag though and so I decided to treat myself with my Christmas money. I love it!
Barney cuddles
I can imagine this is likely to be in my favourite five every month, but he is really a part of the family now. Every night around 9.30 pm he goes crazy, running around like a loon; then around 10 pm he comes and snuggles on my lap and falls asleep – I can’t get enough of my fur baby snuggles!
Certificates from school
We have been having problems with Jacob’s behaviour ever since he started school; that is a whole other blog post in itself but I haven’t written about it (yet, if at all). I pretty much dread my weekly phone call from his teacher, but when he comes home with an achievement certificate, it certainly makes me smile and ever more proud of him.
Bake club
A year or so ago, a few friends & I decided to have a monthly meet with cake, or any bake really; our very own intimate bake club. When I moved though, it was difficult for me to get there and a bit unfair for them to come all the way out to me, so we hadn’t had one for a while. We finally decided it was time to start again now I am driving, and so we had the first one in months! I took these Frozen inspired biscuits.
Indie Pop Up Signing
I absolutely love being a part of the the indie book world and have made so many great friends since I attended my first multi author signing in 2015. After that I got the bug and I decided I would try and attend at least one a year. This year was the turn of the Indie Pop Up signing in Birmingham, an intimate event. It was also the first time in a year and a half I had seen one my best friends, who lives all the way up in Scotland! We had such a great weekend seeing friends again and I came back with this stash of new signed books for my special shelf 🙂
What did you enjoy during January?

Well done little boy!
Oh I love indie books too, but no time to read! (Well, falling asleep after half a page!) #ourfavefive
Well done Jacob on the certificate! I love the look of those frozen inspired biscuits! And I want Barney cuddles too!
