Recently I was tagged by Louise at Birds & Lilies to complete The Mummy Tag, basically so I can share more about my life as a Mummy in one post! (I say recently, it was more like a few months ago – better late than never though, right?!).

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum or a Working Mum?

Well, I would say a bit of both. Since Jacob was born I haven’t worked outside of home as I have been at home with just him at first, and then Noah came along. But nowadays, I am making money from my blog too, so I am registered self employed and all that jazz. I would like to start branching out a little more into freelance work and social media management when J starts school in September, and I would also love to self-publish a book too!

2. Would you have it any other way?

You know what, I am constantly in a battle with myself regarding this. I do love being able to work my own hours, around the boys bedtimes and when J is at nursery. I also love that after 5.5 years of hard work on my blog, I am now able to make money from my writing. But sometimes it would be great to have a bit more adult company and be called something other than mum all day long!

3. Do you co-sleep?

I never intended to co-sleep when Jacob was born, but it just kind of happened even before we came home from hospital (good job the midwives didn’t see that!). I had read about it so I was aware of the dangers as well as the positives. I just think, if it means baby and parents can get a good night sleep and you feel comfortable with it, then go for it. They make really good radiators too, and the sleepy snuggles are just the best!

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?

Definitely muslins – we still use them now! They come in handy for so much; swaddling, cleaning up sick, burping, makeshift bibs… And nowadays I sometimes use them for flat lays…ahem.

5. How many kids do you plan on having?

I always imagined myself having 2 children – a girl and a boy. But obviously I know now that you can’t just choose! When Jacob came along we didn’t feel complete as a family so we decided we would like another, maybe two. Though with our struggle to conceive J we thought it would take another few years, but alas, it didn’t. When Noah arrived, we thought we might like just one more, but we have kind of changed our minds now… These two boys run us ragged!

6. Date nights? How often do you have them?

Not very! Like many people, it’s hard to find childcare a lot of the time as schedules clash with those who can actually accept the challenge to look after both boys at once, ha! We have been lucky in the last couple of months that we have managed to go out on our own twice, which I think is more in two months than in the last two years!

7. Your child’s favourite show?

At the moment the boys tend to flit between Spongebob Squarepants or Paw Patrol – in fact Jacob has chosen a Paw Patrol bag for school. They do also like Shimmer & Shine, (genies divine)

8. Name one thing you bought before you had the baby and never ended up using?

I think with Jacob, probably his bouncer chair that we probably used once or twice. We had a swing chair for him that we used most of the time as it was very mesmerising for him and kept him amused for ages, so that kind of took over instead.

Ahem.

9. Your child’s favourite food?

“The man with glasses”. Naughty chicken. Yep. Oops. They do eat lots of grapes too though!

10. How many cars does your family have?

It used to be one, but now we have two. Since we moved to the country I have been taking driving lessons and so we bought a half decent family car that I can use to get out and about with the boys when I pass my test. Both hubby & I are insured on it so I do drive it already, with him supervising of course. It’s a Ford Focus Zetec and I love it! Its name is Frances. But the shortened version…ahem.

11. Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now?

I actually lost a lot of weight before I fell pregnant with Jacob, because I needed to in order to have fertility treatment. I was a size 20 and managed to lose 3.5 stone and get down to a size 14, but then I gained quite a lot back during pregnancy and never really managed to lose it again before falling pregnant with Noah. I didn’t gain as much during my pregnancy with him as I learned from my first pregnancy that I couldn’t just eat everything in sight just because I was pregnant!

I struggled for months to lose my pregnancy weight after Noah arrived and so when he was almost one year old I joined my local Slimming World group and have been blogging my journey ever since. I have lost almost 4 stone since joining and am now almost at target, and when I get there, I plan to stay there!

12. Dream holiday with your kids?

I would absolutely love to take them to Disneyworld in Florida. I’m not sure it will ever happen though as I don’t think we will ever be able to afford it! Also, it wouldn’t be until they were a bit older and able to appreciate it and the magic of the place. It would be amazing.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?

I have always wanted to visit New York at Christmas! The twinkly lights, huge Christmas trees, ice skating, winter clothes, just everything about Christmas looks so magical in New York. And I would love to go to Tiffany’s of course.

14. How has your life changed since having kids?

The tiredness, my goodness, the tiredness. I have never been so tired in my life. Even during Uni and those late night studying sessions. As I didn’t actually have to do a lot during the day. But now I do. And I am always tired. Even when I’m asleep.

15. Finish the sentence “It makes my heart melt when…”

…the boys kiss, cuddle, and hold hands of their own accord. Those moments make parenthood truly magical and make me realise that i must actually be doing something right.

16. Where do you shop for your kids?

Mostly Primark, occasionally George @ Asda or F&F @ Tesco. If it’s for a special occasion then usually Next.

17. Favourite make-up and skincare products?

See, I’m not really much of a make up person and I usually buy whatever is on offer! So I don’t really have a favourite. Skincare, I mostly use Avon and Boots.

18. Huggies or Pampers?

Huggies, as we are Drynites ambassadors which is part of the Huggies brand. 😉

19. Have you always wanted kids?

I wasn’t really fussed until I met hubby, I was never really a baby kind of person. But then we decided we would like a couple, if we could.

20. Best part of being a mum?

The unconditional love from these small people who depend on you to help them learn & grow. Can I also say, when they have gone to bed?…

There you have it, a lot more about more from The Mummy Tag!

Now I’m tagging whoever wants to take part!
