Recently we were asked if the boys would like to try some Kiddyum frozen ready meals. Both boys eat quite a varied diet, but Jacob has previously been a very fussy eater so I have found it incredibly difficult to cook for him. It has got better now and he eats more and tries more, but he is still fussy in some areas. Noah has always been a really good eater and tries anything you put in front of him (he’s such a little piglet) but he is just starting to go through that toddler refusing food stage.

I will almost always cook meals from scratch for us and the boys, but on the days we are rushing around and hubby & I don’t eat until later in the evening (like on weigh in days) a quick & easy but healthy meal is a great help. Usually it will end up being scrambled egg & beans on toast (Jacob’s favourite!) but I do prefer to give them a ‘proper’ meal with plenty of goodness.

Kiddyum frozen meals

Kiddyum frozen ready meals were created by Jayne Hynes, born from her need to give her children a nutritionally balanced, healthy diet from the very beginning. As well as ticking all of Jayne’s boxes, they tick all of mine too:

  • All Natural Ingredients
  • No Added Sugar*/Low Salt
  • No Preservatives
  • No GM Ingredients
  • No Artificial Colours/Flavours
  • Made in the UK
  • Only British Meat & Dairy
  • Only Sustainable Fish
  • Truly Recyclable Packaging
  • Frozen, Locked in Goodness

There are five flavours of the Kiddyum frozen ready meals, so a good variety. The packaging on all of the meals is very bright and a fun cartoon-y design which makes them stand them out in the frozen section – I do love that it is recyclable too as I like to recycle as much as possible. I did check the ingredients and I was pleased to see that I recognised every single ingredient, indeed all natural! As with most new meals I feed my children, I did taste them too and I thought they were very tasty and full of flavour, they did taste very much home cooked, but obviously prepared in a fraction of the time. They were all a good portion size, similar to what I would give the boys anyway.

Jacob really enjoyed the pasta dishes and the cottage pie, and Noah enjoyed the fish and veg pie, but he wasn’t so keen on the chicken curry. I’m not sure whether this was because it was a little spicy for him, though I thought it was just the right spice level for a child.

Overall these meals are a really good option for convenience for children on those busy days when you are rushing around. Because they are frozen too, they are there at the ready and you don’t need to worry about them spoiling past the use by date, in the fridge.

  1. These sound ideal for keeping in the freezer for those busy days – we have one evening a week where all the kids are in and out to different clubs etc, so this would be ideal as a quick dinner for my 2 year old. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

  2. These sound and look like very tasty meals.
They are very handy to have in when you don’t feel like cooking or don’t have the time x

  3. These sound like a great option for busy nights! My quick go to meal is normally sausages and spaghetti and veg but it would be really useful to have a couple of these in the freezer! #triedtested

  4. Yes indeed, children are very choosy eaters. And some different and fun recipes for kids. Easy to make and healthy. Great article and Kiddyum is really a must-have freezer food for kids.
