As a spectacle wearer of around 20 years, I have gone through no end of pairs of glasses. The ones I had when I was younger – awful. As I became more able to make my own decisions on the glasses I would like to wear, it became easier with the vast amount of styles available to try on.
With the opening of websites where you are now able to purchase glasses from the comfort of your own home, there is more choice than ever; especially as you can give your preferences and they will do most of the hard work for you! The only negative with these is the trying on, though most sites nowadays allow you to try the frames before you buy.
My thoughts – SpecsPost.com
I have recently been trying out some frames from SpecsPost. I found the website really easy to navigate and there was so much choice, from budget to more expensive frames, from understated to fashion statement frames. They even do a petite range for those with smaller faces. In the end I went for the “Buddy” and the ‘Shuffle’ Brown frames as I fancied trying something different to my usual black colour and rectangular frame. I always go for a thick rim though as unless I get ultra thin lenses (which can be expensive!) then mine are like jam jars (!) but these hide them well.
I did measure the bridge of my current pair of glasses as I find that with a wider bridge, the glasses tend to fall down my nose so I wanted to make sure I chose some frames that wouldn’t, and there was a lot of choice so I actually found it hard to narrow it down in the end.
The frames themselves, though thicker rimmed, are very lightweight so not heavy on the face, and the bridge was just the right size. The arm length was also a good size for the fit of the glasses. I found both pairs sat really well on my face and didn’t slide down; there is nothing more annoying than having to constantly push your glasses up your nose! The colours of both frames are also brighter in real life than on the stock photo and I really love the colour of both of them.
Overall I really like both of these frames; they are great quality and great value for money so I will definitely be considering SpecsPost when I fancy some new glasses in the future!
RRP: £26.99 (Buddy), £30 (Shuffle Brown).
