After having a few impromptu blog breaks last year, I have decided that I am going to at least try and up my game a bit this year. I know, I may just have to take a break at some point again but I hope to be more organised this time, if need be. Blogging is still mostly just a hobby for me, but all bloggers have to admit that people reading their blog is an amazing feeling and so promotion, regularity and consistency is important for that.

With that in mind, I decided to write myself a little list of blogging resolutions for this year. Who knows, I may actually get into some kind of routine and keep it up for next year, and the year after, and the year after… This is where I was going to write, “Well, if I am still blogging then”, but I forgot to mention that I have just celebrated my 5 year blogversary! I do actually feel a little proud of that, never when I started did I think I would be able to keep it up, but alas, here I am.

So here are my blogging resolutions for 2016 (I’ll be back this time next year to let you know if I kept them!):

Spend more time promoting and interacting on my Facebook blog page

To work on my Twitter promotion and interaction was on my to-do for last year, and it took some time but I am now in a consistent routine with it, so Facebook is the next port of call.

Revisit StumbleUpon

I recently logged in and I found the last time I stumbled something, was June 2013! I know it is very useful for bloggers so hopefully somebody may find something on here they think is worth stumbling… I will be taking more time to stumble other pages too.

Not worry about numbers in the charts!

Blogging charts are something most of us are a part of, or have been at one time. I used to get so upset if my rank dropped, but now I don’t take much notice; I can’t bring myself to leave though 😉

Blog reading and commenting

I started out with good intentions at this last year too and it lasted for a while, but then it kind of dwindled when I took my breaks and I haven’t done much since. I aim to read and comment on more of my favourite blogs this year, and discover some new ones!
Less pressure to post or write every day

Previously I have put a lot of pressure on myself to write every day, or at least every other day so I keep getting readers to my blog, but then I seem to lose my mojo. I think it will be much easier on myself if I just write when I actually have something to write about, rather than forcing myself to find something to write about. As long as I stick to the regular promoting, I think those readers will keep on coming just fine.
Do you have any new year blogging resolutions?

  1. I could do with writing a list like this! I really need to establish some good blogging habits, like commenting on others posts which I'm terrible at right now. I've got better at stumbleupon recently and it I do get some views from it now, but I really need to get better at posting to my Facebook page. It's so hard to stay consistent isn't it! xx
