Last year I took part in The Great Bloggers Bake Off and during the pastry weeks I was always annoyed with my own efforts as I have never been very good at making pastry in all honesty – I always try to make it myself but if it goes wrong, then ready made it is! (I usually always have some in the freezer for such happenings). I didn’t know until I saw them on the shelf but Jus-Rol do pizza bases and also ready to bake croissants! I’ve always fancied making my own croissants but this is the next best thing I guess!
The pizza bases come in a pack of two and as they are joined together and ready to go, they turn out to be rectangular bases meaning you don’t lose your corners! (I love that kind of pizza). I did find the bases hard to take apart so only one of them unrolled intact, but the other was big enough to split between the four of us with chips & salad on the side. (The one that didn’t come out intact I shaped into a pizza for hubby to take to work).
Also being rectangular, it was easy to section it off into four so we could all have different toppings. I like the fact that you also get a jar of tomato sauce with these, which is tasty. Although they state thin crust I did find the bases slightly too much on the thin side so it ended up more like a pizza ‘tart’, but it was incredibly yummy being extra crunchy on the outside but still lovely and soft on the inside – we all polished it off so they passed the test for our pizza loving family!
Our rating – 3/5
The croissants come in a pack of six so between the four of us we had to fight over who got the most!
I like the fact these come in a ‘roll’ with serrations so they are easy to separate, and they are a good size. I thought I would tart them up a bit so added some white chocolate chips and some dried cranberries.

One thing I did find with both tube containers is that they were quite difficult for me to open and the instructions weren’t completely clear – but I got there in the end with help from hubby!
Jus-Rol products retail at major supermarkets and come in many varieties.

I love the jus-rol croissants (I add a creme egg in the centre at easter time). I've never tried the pizza dough. Yours looks yum! #triedtested
Oh that sounds absolutely amazing!
I've never been able to find the croissants after hunting high and low I might have to try again on my search
Our Tesco have lots of the Jus-Rol range.
Wow I had NO IDEA they do pizza bases! Must hunt out those for pizza making fun with the kids. Since I stopped being a martyr (well since I had kids) and making my own pastry – we use their shortcrust pastry regularly and the croissants at Christmas time.
Great review.

The pizza bases are really nice, I will definitely be buying the croissants again too!
Bought the pizza bases. The first attempt stuck to the baking tray, the second attempt we put grease proof parchment down first and it stuck to the paper. Won’t be using again.
You know you use flour, right? Instructions literally tell you to do so
