After J arrived and before I fell pregnant with N, I started blogging about my weight loss journey which was actually round two as I lost around 50 lbs before I fell pregnant with J, but throughout the last 2.5 years I have regained most of that, to my dismay (but with nobody else to blame but myself).

Since N has arrived I have yo-yo’d with my weight so much, but I am sick of it now and really want to knuckle down and get to my goal. I know I can do it as I did it pre-babies. Earlier whilst posting on MyFitnessPal (MFP) I came up with numerous excuses – I’m too tired, I don’t have time to log or I forget so I go over my calories, I snack too much, I skip lunch… But the fact that I know they are excuses is a good start.
I’m finding meal planning our dinners is helping me, but I think I may also start planning my lunches too as I do get bored of eating the same thing day in day out, but if I plan and prepare they day before then that saves me time too and I know how many calories I have to play with.
Regarding exercise, I don’t do a lot of that any more. My main exercise is walking – I walk to & from nursery, to & from stay & play once or twice a week, and walk to meet hubby from work 3 or 4 times a week. Once N is 6 months though and my tummy muscles should be back to normal, I’m going to start doing something a bit more strenuous – though I will start small again as the last time I did any major exercise was around 2 years ago!
My weigh in day is going to be on a Monday. It used to be a Friday but then I used to use that as an excuse to pig out over the weekend as I would have 4 or 5 days to get it back off again. I think this will keep me in check a bit more though, as well as posting about it here every week so I am accountable for it.
I’m going to post my stats every week but I’m going to post my start weight as it was when I first started back in 2010 as I don’t want to just write off all of the effort that I put in previously. Speaking of stats, I will also start measuring myself monthly so I can see changes in that area as well as my weight & clothes.
The photos below show me at my heaviest in 2009 at 203 lbs+; July 2011 after 50 lbs loss (and at 5/6 weeks pregnant!); and most recently in May 2014. I will be so pleased when I get back to the second photo, but I would like another 20 lbs or so after that.
“The beginning (again)” stats:
  • start weight – 203.6 lbs
  • target weight – 132 lbs
  • current weight – 188.6 lbs
  • weight loss to date – 15 lbs
  • weight loss to go – 56.6 lbs
See you next week for my update, hopefully with a loss…

  1. Good luck – I found swimming has helped me lose weight after Daniel & Emma, although admittedly I didn't have a huge amount to lose. MFP is brilliant though, it really does make you think about you're eating!

  2. T25 home workout videos are worth a look. High Command has shifted 2 stone in 5 months since dropping No3 out 🙂
