Today’s post is from Elizabeth over at Where Roots & Wings Entwine. She writes about one of her favourite holiday destinations – Pembrokeshire in Wales.

It
is always lovely to get away from home and have a little holiday.
Even though I dream of having family holiday’s abroad and hope to
do so at least once in the future with my little family, I am a huge
fan of holidaying in the UK.

I
have fond memories of fantastic holidays at various locations all
across the UK. As a child we often had holidays to Hereford and
Scunthorpe to visit family where lots of memories of fun times were
made and it was whilst holidaying in Hereford that I developed a love
of camping. I also loved the holidays to North Wales, Ireland,
Cardiff, Bristol, Chester, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and London
that I have had and there are so many other locations across the UK
that I want to visit.

Blackpool
also holds a special place in my heart as it was the first holiday
that Lee and I had together. We holidayed there in the early days of
our relationship and had a brilliant time strolling along the pier,
visiting the sea life centre and seeing the animals at Blackpool zoo.
I hope to have another holiday there in the future and experience
the place with our little family.

One
of my favourite holiday destinations in the UK is Pembrokeshire.
Even though it is not that far from where we live we have had lots of
great holidays in Pembrokeshire, specifically North Pembrokeshire.
As well as getting away from home for a few days for fun holidays in
Pembrokeshire we also love heading to that area for family days out.

One
of the reasons we love holidaying in Pembrokeshire is that it is a
beautiful area and there are lots of stunning sights to admire. We
also love the area as there are lots of family friendly places and
attractions for us to visit for lots of fun and frolics.

When
holidaying in Pembrokeshire we have done a spot of camping, getting
close to the great outdoors and enjoying staying in stunning
surroundings. As well as camping when holidaying in Pembrokeshire we
have also stayed a number of times at Bluestone, which is a family
friendly 5* National Park Resort. Bluestone is located in the heart
of Pembrokeshire and in a beautiful area.

Bluestone

On
site there is a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars which are
located within a stone’s throw of the Treehouse play area where Bug
loves to play and build up an appetite before munching on some tasty
food at one of the restaurants. When staying here I love visiting
Bluestones Well Spa for some much needed relaxation and pampering.
Bluestone
There
are lots of activities for children and Bug always has fun there
thanks to Bluestone’s Mini Rangers activities which provide little
ones with fun indoor and outdoor activities. At Bluestone there are
fun activities for all ages; the Mini Rangers club caters for little
ones aged 0-3, the Junior Rangers Club is for 4-7 year olds and the
Celtic Rangers club is for 8-12 year olds. There is also the
Adventure Centre for all ages and the Tournament Field for children
(8+ years) and adults.

We
also love visiting Bluestone’s waterpark, Blue Lagoon for lots of
splishy splashy fun. Bug loves playing in children’s area and I
love relaxing on the lazy river. There is also an indoor wave
machine, rapid river ride and flue rides for lots of water fun.

Next
to Bluestone is Oakwood theme park where we always have lots of fun.
The big kid in Lee gets to enjoy thrilling, adrenaline pumping rides
at the park with his friends whilst Bug and enjoy the rides for young
adventurers.

Whenever
we holiday in Pembrokeshire our holiday is not complete without a
visit to Folly Farm. Bug loves it at Folly Farm and we always
without fail have a fantastic day there. Bug has a great time having
lots of adventure play both indoors and outdoors at Folly Farm; he
loves being daddy’s co-drive on the Follystone Racetrack, enjoys
playing in the indoor soft play area and he has a great time playing
on the Dragon Adventure where he gets to climb, slide and play in the
giant sand-pit. Bug also loves racing around on the Pedal Tractor
runs and always gets stuck in playing builder on The Destruction
Playground’s giant construction-themed sandpit play area.

Folly Farm

Bug
loves Folly Farm’s indoor Vintage Funfair where he gets to ride on
the cars on the carousels for little ones.

Folly
Farm also has lots a Jolly Barn and Farm where Bug loves meeting an
array of farmyard friends such as horses, pigs, goats and chickens.

Also
at Folly Farm is a Zoo which has over 50 different species and more
than 250 animals. Bug loves exploring the zoo and seeing all the
different animals, with the Meerkats, Giraffe’s and now the new
Penguins being the highlight for him.

When
holidaying in Pembrokeshire we also love visiting the National Trust
properties in the county such as Colby Woodland Garden, Stackpole and
Cilgerran Castle. Bug loves visiting Cilgerran Castle and always
gets excited about climbing the towers to be King of the Castle.

Cilgerran Castle

We
also love visiting the Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marsh. The
Teifi Marsh bridges the village of Cilgerran and the town of
Cardigan, with the Welsh Wildlife Centre situated in stunning
surroundings. We love going on adventures and exploring on walks at
the Welsh Wildlife Centre, seeing the river Teifi and Bug loves
playing at the woodland park.

A
holiday in Pembrokeshire would not be the same without a visit or two
to the beautiful beaches so that Bug can have lots of fun playing in
the sand and splashing in the sea.

Poppit beach

We
love holidaying in Pembrokeshire and hope to do so many more times
over the years as a family as well as visit lots of other places
across the UK.
