So here it is. I’m finally the Mummy of a 1 year old. I’ve been waiting a whole year for this moment! *Insert laugh here*

After his party on Sunday, we had a quite a chilled family day yesterday, on his actual birthday.

We co-slept the night before, so we would be waking up with him on his birthday. As it happened, I woke up around 3.15am in one of those “wake up to check he’s OK” moments, and my heart melted and I shed a little tear, as I woke up to him half sat up, with his head on my chest, cuddled right up to me! It was just perfect as it was only 20 minutes until his birth time, so I just laid there and kissed & cuddled him, and stroked his head. It was so perfect.

I then went back to sleep, and we all woke around 7.30am. He had his bottle, and then we took him in the lounge to open his presents. I had already set them out with some balloons the night before:

It took a while as he didn’t want to stay still, so we had to let him play a little between every couple of presents! (We had the same trouble at Christmas!). His main present was a smart trike:

And I stuck with his party theme and got him this card – I think the photo of him is perfect for it!:

He played with his presents a bit, then we took him to stay & play to have a bit of fun and wear him out. They had a different layout to the room this week, and there was a ball pool in the corner which he loved, as he has one at home!

We then went out to lunch, for a carvery. We have been for one with him before, but he always a bit young so he never had any, so we thought we’d make it his first! He seemed to enjoy it:

Later on after dinner, we had cake, which I made him. So he had two birthday cakes, lucky boy!

I can’t believe my little man is now 1, where did the time go?!

  1. How i wish i knew where time went. My word! Long days and short years, hey. I can't believe mine has now crossed the 10m old threshold and the end of my maternity leave has arrived. It's crazy, isn't it?

Your little boy looks so lovely and it seems you had a brilliant time. Your point about holding him mins too his birth time really tugged at my heart.
