I’ve mentioned previously how The Husband & I would love to travel the world when the boys have grown up and entered the big wide world on their own. One country we are always talking about that we would love to visit is Italy. Mainly because – we had planned a trip to Lake Garda for our honeymoon, but unfortunately that fell through. We’re determined to visit Italy one day, though!
I love discovering the hidden gems in new countries, but I like to do the traditional touristy things too. The main cities I’d love to visit are Rome and Venice; I always think of Venice as the Italian city of love! Maybe we could head there for our next big wedding anniversary… Possibly leaving the laptop open on the Destination 2 website would drop a massive hint… 😉
Whenever we go on holiday in the UK and I’m planning days out, I’ll often try and find a model village nearby. I think they’re so interesting; the time & effort that must go into them, and walking round we all feel like giants! We love spotting country famous landmarks, and also places that are local to the model village. We’d visited Merrivale Model Village in Great Yarmouth as a couple, years ago now, but the boys had never been.
Welcome to Merrivale Model Village, one of Great Yarmouth’s best-loved attractions, a fantastic model village set in an acre of floral landscaped gardens on the sea front.Take your time to discover this captivating model village and its charming inhabitants. … Sit back and relax in the beautiful gardens surrounding Merrivale model village and be enchanted by every-day life in miniature. There are many reasons to visit the beautiful island of Bali. Food, culture and stunning natural surroundings are up there but its magnificent beaches are, for many, the number one reason for going.
If you’re heading to the beach, I’ve made a list of my favourite ones to help you plan your holiday. This Bali Tourism Guide will also give you some additional options. Read more
The Husband & I spend many an hour daydreaming about all of the places we would love to visit when the boys have upped and left home, and we have a bit more money. It would be amazing to travel the world, and see in real life all of the places we’ve seen on television, in movies, and in pictures.
The furthest we’ve ever travelled is Europe (by plane and boat), so to fly long haul would be an adventure for a start! Although we spend these hours daydreaming, it would be so hard to choose where to go first. For this bucket list post, I’ve whittled it down to three.

During the last couple of years we’ve taken our annual holiday during the summer, but this year we decided to go away over the Easter break. Whilst we usually make a trip to Norfolk, this year we made the decision to visit North Wales instead. With yet another change for our holiday, we often stay in a private cottage but this year we opted for a caravan and spent a week at Presthaven; just a few miles away from the seaside town of Rhyl. Rhyl seafront is currently undergoing a large regeneration project, and one of the recently opened businesses is the Cookhouse and Pub.
We believe bringing good things together makes them even better, from fish and chips or brownies and ice cream to a cheeky gin and tonic.
Along with freshly prepared dishes and delicious drinks, we offer a friendly service and great value.
Cookhouse & Pub, a great place to get together. Read more
