Last month it was the boys’ 2nd and 4th birthdays and so I held a joint dinosaur party for them. As soon as I decided on the theme I was straight to Pinterest for ideas and I found some brilliant ones – I could have done so much more but I just didn’t have the time! Nonetheless, I was pretty pleased with how it all came together, especially after pretty much pushing blogging aside for the week prior, to concentrate on party preparation.
This is the year that I find myself organising the fourth birthday party in a row, only this time it will be a joint one for the boys. It will be Jacob’s 4th, and Noah’s 2nd. As we are now living in a house with plenty of outdoor space, I wanted to make this birthday special for the boys and have a party with a bouncy castle! (Though I’m not sure whether that’s for the adults or children)… Read more
We decided this year that for Jacob’s third birthday we were just going to have a little pizza party at home on his actual birthday, then the day after (Friday) we would go a local pub for a meal and soft play with family & friends. I still wanted to make his birthday ‘party’ at home fun so when I had the chance to review this Despicable Me Minions party tableware pack I thought it would be perfect as J is a bit obsessed with minions at the minute!
This pack is for 8 so you get a plastic table cover, paper cups, paper plates, and a pack of paper napkins. They all coordinate with the same background and border but they all have different minion pictures on which I think is great and a true representation of minions! (There are also coordinating decorations which can be purchased).
The quality of all of the items was high, with the table cover being thick plastic and fairly large, the napkins being thick quality and the plates and cups being thick card.
J was so excited at having a minion theme that he was sat at the table before the food was even ready, and as you can see, even he matched perfectly!
We also received 8 pre-filled Minion party bags to match the tableware. Inside each party bag was a strip of minion stickers, a pack of Haribo, a sticky window crawler (which are great fun!) and a tub of minion bubbles (which also came in a brown paper bag in case of leaking, which was thoughtful); so these coordinated with the tableware as well if you having a bigger party at home. As it was just family (adults) at his pizza party I saved the party bags for the next day and they went down very well – especially the sweets! For the cost of these (£1.75) I think it’s very reasonable rather than going to the trouble of preparing your own (been there, done that).
Overall, the partyware went down extremely well and is great value, and Jacob was over the moon with his minion party!
RRP: party pack – £9.98 pre-filled party bags – £1.75 each

Last week was little man N’s Naming Day. One of the meanings of his name is ‘rainbow’ and he is our rainbow baby, so that was the obvious theme! I had been planning for ages and made a few things myself. I love getting creative when it comes to parties as I think it’s so much more appreciated, and I feel like I myself have gotten so much more out of it.
I was getting myself in a flap in the couple of weeks before as I kept getting people saying they could no longer come, then half of the other guests didn’t even turn up on the day anyway so we had a half empty room; it did feel a bit more intimate though and J kept everyone amused by running around with his trousers half way down his bum and running the toy cars over everything! In our home we love books, though little man sometimes doesn’t have the attention span to sit and read a full one. I try to a have a mixture of both educational, traditional, modern & fun books. J is slightly obsessed with a certain cartoon pig, so when we were given the chance to review a personalised Peppa Pig book from Penwizard I was very eager – for him, not me, I might add! I was able to choose a softback book so as it was coming up to little man’s 2nd birthday, I went for the “Peppa goes to Your Childs Party!” one.
It is a very easy process to personalise your book, in just a few steps. The personalisation options include your childs gender, name, skin tone, eye colour, hair style & colour, and whether they wear glasses or not. Also with the party book you can include their age on the balloon. You can even leave a personal message at the front of the book.
Once I had ordered the book it arrived very quickly. I was surprised at the size, though it does say it on the website (but if you read the blog regularly, you will know I rarely pay attention to size, oops!). It arrived in a hardback envelope which is of course a good thing so it doesn’t get bent or damaged in the mail.
The book itself is of very good quality; very glossy with lovely bright pictures with all of the Peppa Pig characters from the familiar story. J’s character does bear a bit of a resemblance to him in cartoon form! I love the fact there is a print of the letter in there too.
The book is very easy to read, but as J is 2 and just at the beginning of learning to read, I read it for him. He loves sitting and looking at the pictures and telling me who the characters are though. The only thing with it being softback is that if you have a little destroyer like mine, it can be bent easily. For this reason I think I would pay the extra £5 and get the hardback version.
Overall, this is a book that a Peppa Pig fan will never tire of – little man is always bringing it to read! At £14.99 I think it makes a fabulous gift and as it’s personalised it is great to be put in a memory box, as there are many other versions too.
