The August Degustabox was along the theme of back to school. None of the products in our box were actually used for school though as the box arrived just before we went on holiday, so we took it with us! There were some quite exciting products in this box; some I’d come across before and some I hadn’t.
- Enjoy 10 to 15 surprise products, many are completely new to the market!
- Receive your Degustabox every month filled with goodies.
- All for much less than you would pay in the shops!
So what was inside the August Degustabox?
Unfortunately I don’t have many individual photos of the products from this one as we were so busy on holiday!
I love Seabrook crisps so I’m afraid the kids were hardly even going to get a look in with these… The variety pack included in this Degustabox had the three classic flavours of Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Vinegar, and Cheese & Onion. My favourite flavour always was, and still is, Cheese & Onion. I have to say to say though that I didn’t find these as flavoursome as they used to be. Still crunchy though!
Bahlsen PiCK UP! Black ‘N White
We’ve had Bahlsen biscuits lots of times before as we all love them, but I hadn’t seen these ones. These are a bit different to the usual; being a slab of white chocolate nested between two chocolate biscuits. They’re the larger ones too so even more biscuit for your buck here! As I’d expect from Bahlsen, they had a wonderful crunchy outside with a smooth middle.
Hellman’s Real Mayonnaise
Who hasn’t heard of good old Hellman’s? Being a Slimming World member I usually buy the light mayo, but let’s face it, it’s not the same as the “proper” stuff, is it? I had forgotten how nice it was actually; lovely and creamy, but after not having the full fat version for so long, I didn’t need an awful lot without finding it a bit sickly!
JellySqueeze (Orange, Apple & Blackcurrant)
Jelly in a pouch is something that’s new to me, and the boys found it interesting too! The pouches are resealable so that is handy for packed lunches, though both boys finished their pouch in one sitting anyway. I had a little taste and found them a little tangy; they did have bits too so that’s something to bear in mind for children that like smooth food.
Light Bites Popped Chips (Sweet and Smoky Chipotle, Pesto and Sundried Tomato)
I often buy popped chips such as these; being low in calories, they’re a great alternative to a fried crisp. I hadn’t come across this brand before though. They were super crunchy and I really loved both flavours. The chipotle ones were quite spicy (though if you’re a regular reader you’ll probably know I don’t mind that!); the pesto ones had a good balance of pesto and tomato flavouring.
Maggi Fusian Noodles (Sticky Hoisin Duck, Fiery Sweet Chilli)
I’ve had Maggi Fusian Noodles in a previous Degustabox, including the Fiery Sweet Chilli ones. As mentioned previously, they were certainly fiery – but the kind I like! The Hoisin Duck ones weren’t as spicy but still had a great flavour; they were certainly identifiable as hoisin flavour. I still recommend cooking them using the pan method too.
Orangina Limited Edition Summer Bottles
I haven’t had Orangina for years so I was quite excited to see a couple of bottles in this Degustabox! The bottles included were a limited edition design for the summer, and very summery they were. The Orangina itself was really refreshing straight from the fridge, just as I remember. I drank it on its own but I do think it would be great in a mocktail.
Cadbury Curlywurly Squirlies
I didn’t get to try many of these as everybody else got to them first. Though they are the perfect size for sharing, I think we needed more in the bag! Just like a chewy curly wurly, but in bite size pieces; a wonderful movie or picnic treat.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Big Taste Toffee Whole Nut
I love a bit of Dairy Milk but begrudgingly I had to share this with The Husband… We received the larger version of a Big Taste bar back in the May Degustabox, so I had an idea of what to expect from this conveniently sized on the go version. Sure enough, it had the creamy Dairy Milk taste with a nutty crunch.
Twisted Halo – Coconut Water, Ginger & Vodka
Now I have to say, I wasn’t convinced by this before I even opened the bottle. Coconut, ginger, and vodka doesn’t really strike me as a combination that would work. I’ve mentioned previously that I’m not so keen on ginger in drinks, but I am partial to a bit of vodka… Unfortunately, I still wasn’t convinced when I tried it. Neither was my brother-in-law. It was a weird taste that just didn’t do it for me I’m afraid.
Refreshers have to be one of the best loved retro sweets out there, but I can’t eat too many as they are just too chewy for me! These softies are a great alternative and I could have actually just eaten the whole bag. I did share them with The Husband and Jacob, although J wasn’t so keen. I think they were a bit tangy and fizzy for him, but I loved them.
